KLHModel Five 3-Way 10-inch Acoustic Suspension Floorstanding Speaker - Pair (Nordic Noir)

I grew up with huge ESS speakers with a 12" woofer and the passive woofer on the back. I've found it difficult to find an enclosed speaker without having to spend 5K on the Klipsch Forte 4. These Model 5s have great sound and range. Real bass, not ported, and a midrange and tweeter so clear that I just couldn't believe it.

KLH Model Five's are good, but definitely not the greatest thing since sliced bread as some online reviewers/influencers would have you believe. These acoustic suspension speakers are well made and sound good but not great. Even after about 100 hours of moderate volume break in, I found they were still overly bright and forward compared to the great sounding KLH Model Three's and Wharfedale Linton's. I was able to tame the Model Five's with a combination of positioning, putting the attenuator in the low position and covering each tweeter with one sheet of 2 ply toilet tissue. Don't laugh, the tp "mod" works! The sound in my main listening room is now way more acceptable to my ears. Be sure you audition these speakers before purchase. The "untreated" bright, forward and in your face sound signature is not for everyone. Break in does not seem to fully eliminate the very bright sound signature. Think of a non heritage Klipsch tower/bookshelf speaker type of sound. Plenty of on line hype around the Model Fives. Caveat emptor.

Awsome sound quality, which seems to be getting better the more I listen to them. Delivered with care, quickly, and in perfect condition. Would not hesitate to make other purchases with World Wide Stereo, they are awsome.

Excellent full-range speakers. I use these speakers for both TV and music. They capture every detail of the music from Classical to Rock. They have a broad sound stage so you can sit off-center and still have that holographic center sound image. When watching movies and TV the sound is great. Clear dialog and excellent extension way beyond the speakers (like when someone is entering a room or a plane is flying by). They came triple boxed and the stands were included, nice touch. Having them hooked up to my Marantz Model 40n and playing music, vinyl, streaming, or CDs all sound great. Easy to drive rarely have to turn up the sound to hear them. My old speakers, it seemed I had to turn them up before they became alive. The KLH model 5s sounds good at low volumes also.
