Is thermos mug allowed in carry on luggage in an airplane

It's your lucky day. I work in aviation security central processing (TSA to Americans). One of my tasks is to remove oversized liquids. You can take this through security - as long as it is EMPTY. Your bag may be stopped to check that the mug is indeed empty...

The inside of the cup is easy. As with many of these cups the lid gets stained with coffee and begins to smell so needs washing relatively regularly. To do that you need to dismantle it (and obviously rebuild it and that's not so easy ....)

Can you drink straight from this? Or do you get a pool of drink in the lid? Thanks :-)

Yes you can drink straight from it and no, I have been using mine for 6 months now and never had a pool in the lid as when you move the mechanism to open there are 2 openings for the liquid to fall back in. (not that these are needed because it doesnt come out in great volumes) When I am finished drinking I slide it back to closed. Hope this is of help to you?
