Experimental Photography: A Handbook of Techniques

This book covers quite a few experimental/historical methods of photography deviating away from digital photography. The printing is excellent and the well outlined techniques are beautifully illustrated. There are several interviews with experimental photographers which are inspiring. Some of the homemade cameras are fantastic such as one made from lego and even a stuffed armadillo camera! Highly recommended.

There are SO many inspiring techniques described in this book! If you would like to find out what alternative photographic techniques you can study - BUY it, there are lots to choose from!!

Interesting read if you are not just taking digital shots.

Purchased this a birthday present for my friend and he loves it. He is really into photography and is constantly experimenting with new techniques to create a variety of different types of images. This book has helped him expand his photography skills and given him new ideas that will help him develop his photography further. Would definitely recommend for anyone who is into photography.

Great for experimenting with photography

Excellent book. Great balance between process instructions and artists that use the processes. Interesting for my own practice and as a teacher it's inspired some of my students too.

If your looking for something different this is the book for you. I've already tried a recipe for home made developer using coffee and it works.

The book arrived quickly and the content is interesting (although not mind blowing), it's a great starter book for experimenting photography, or to refresh your knowledge on the terminology of different techniques. The only reason I'm not giving it a four or five star is that the book itself arrived faulty. The end pages at the start of the book weren't cut or stuck down properly. And while this doesn't affect reading the book, it does look really scruffy and I'm someone that usually takes massive care of my books so it does bug me. This probably wouldn't bug someone else though, and I imagine it was just this copy affected.

Good book on Experimental photography. A good review of past and current techniques. Wet Plate Collodion on a 35mm Camera using microscope slides. Pretty cool.

If you are interested in non conventional photography, haptic image making and experimental darkroom practice this book is for you. Perfect for those studying this at uni. Far better resource than other books marketed as experimental photography processes.
