They come off easily so I presume they aren't supposed to be on whilst you train. If they do stay on they'd make putting the spring clips on awkward anyway. I like the weight of the bar too. Is this big enough for dead lift and squats? Or would it hit knees?** A: My son is 6ft 5" stocky built. He uses it with no issues.. Hope that helps **Q: Hello, I used a different hex bar at the gym. Do you use gloves on the hex bar?** A: I personally don’t but lots of my clients/athletes do. The knurling on it is fairly rough but you do get used to it after a while. Best of luck **Q: Hi, how comfortable do you find the grips?** A: I am 5 ft 7 ins with short arms, and would have preferred a bar with the grips part closer to body, as I feel that I am stretching out too much with arms and shoulders, whereas I would have preferred to be loading in purely vertical way, and thereby using it like a squat or deadlift, which this bar is great for. The grips themselves are good, though if you have lots of wt you will need gloves. Apart from that really good bar, but it is heavy even without wts. Hope that helps. **Q: What is the width/spacing between the two parallel handles?** A: Cant measure it at the minute but I am 5 ft 8 and medium build and no issues. Excellent value for money, well made & very strong. Was a bit apprehensive if it would be too restrictive and clash with my legs when deadlifting as I'm 6'2 by some of the other reviews but no need to have worried. It is a heavy bar so you will need to reduce your weights for the first while to get used to it.
