Yours Cruelly, Elvira: Memoirs of the Mistress of the Dark

So varied and interesting viewpoint from a very enigmatic personality. Was entertained by her writing style and the pictures helped to further the overall sense of the story, jovial and yet with portions of serious situations and beliefs. Thoroughly enjoyed reading her life story even though her life goes on, her story continues.

This book, if you like Cassandra Peterson as Elvira is a grand read. Many revealing and shocking life experiences. From childhood when being severely scalded by boiling water to many sports celebrates, actors and others who tried and succeeded to rape her. I like her down earth recall of her life. I will always remember her on television hosting the B type horror films but, she had a lot more in her life that she exposes' to the public now.

I remember watching Elvira on local TV as a teen, and I always thought she was "cool" and funny. After reading this book, I realize I wad right in my assessment. She is VERY cool, funny, witty, and knows how to tell the story of her life, which is extremely interesting and filled with lots of ups and downs. I laughed out loud when reading some sections, and my wife kept asking me to tell her what was so funny. What I got from reading this book is that Elvira is and always been hard-working, and she gives 110% to her show and her fans, and is a lovable and likeable person. She is too cool for the Hollywood A-listers in my opinion. I highly recommend this.

I'd love to meet the author, she has had a very interesting life and her resilience, humanity, personality and sense of humor comes right through in this easy to read book. Her attitude is great and her modest, open and witty recounting of her life is full of good lessons without being "preachy". Some things she says are laugh-out-loud funny. Any woman will empathize with her experiences and sentiments and guys too might get a better understanding of the female point-of-view towards their actions and the way they treat their girlfriends, wives and the fairer sex they lust after. Her comments about rape and how it would feel for a man if it happened to him are a must-read.

It starts with her as a little girl who accidentally tips a pan of boiling water all over her back. After weeks of debriding she survives, but is scarred forever. She begins her like as and exotic dancer, and her host of horror tv shows, then takes on the role of Elvira. Her career takes many ups and downs and she takes on many lovers. Some very famous like Elvis Presley. All who use and abusee her. She continues her studies in music. dance, and finance funding several of her movies herself. She finally gives up men, and marries a female who she spends her life with. The book is full of great photos of her life, her roles and her new mate.A great memoir in every way, and can be reread many times as i did.

When I first saw Vincent Price it was in ‘The Last Man on Earth’ in Brooklyn New York. I don’t remember the year but I do remember there was only 6 channels on TV. But after that everything that was horror/scary was me. Before erasable markers I use to make vampires bites & scars on the necks faces of the neighborhood kids, after a while their parents approached my grandmother (who raised me) to have me stop hanging/playing with their kids. Grandma approached me in my room which was full of horror, monster, magazines & models from Aurora that I glued/painted asking“Margie are you ok” with all the love she could muster.“With a smile I replied “ I’m great abulita this is who I am”This book is in my collection autographed by Cassandra at Cryptocon, and no one can touch it but I have bought five different copies for people who I felt would appreciate this magnificent piece of literature.So to Cassandra & T keep up the good work your true fans will never let you down.

This is a hilarious and poignant journey through the life of Cassandra Peterson. She’s very honest and funny and all her stories are so interesting.

Llegó en buen estado. Muy interesante y algunas partes divertidas para quien ya conozca el humor de Elvira. Cien por cien recomendado.

I'm a huge Elvira fan, since the 80's. Looking forward to reading Cassandra's book. How she created the character. I rated it 5 stars cuz I think she's amazing, and I will love the book.

A versão em capa dura ainda está com um preço muito salgado. Segundo a própria Cassandra divulgou em suas redes sociais, essa versão, recém lançada, de sua autobiografia teria alguns extras como fotos e talvez mais algum texto. De fato tem. A capa é soft touch e o nome em vermelho brilha. É muito lindo, muito caprichado e vale muito a pena pra quem é fã conhecer mais um pouco sobre a atriz por trás da personagem Elvira.Além das fotos tbm veio um índice.A única coisinha "ruim" é só o livro não possuir orelhas.As folhas são amareladas e de um papel muito bom pra leitura e manuseio. Está uma verdadeira obra prima fazendo jus ao ícone que a Elvira/Cassandra é.Estou há mais de um ano aguardando por esse momento. 🖤

Really enjoyed it ! It should have been longer but as I understand Cassandra was told by the publishers to make it shorter so hopefully one day we'll have a part 2.

Absolutely an amazing read and inspirational. Took me 2 days to read couldn't put it down. Always been a massive fan since being a kid. And still am a massive fan
