I put all the ingredients in raw the night before in the crock pot. Leave it in the fridge to marinade overnight. Next morning into slow cooker on low all day x FANTASTIC everytime x do the same with my chilli x

Is the lid supposed to be loose fitting ?

It's fairly loose but doesn't rattle when cooking; I set mine right in the middle and it stays there - must say it's the best crock-pot I've ever used, I get good results each time. Good luck with yours.

Can you fit a small gammon joint in this slow cooker please

Yes, easily. There's even a recipe for coca cola baked ham in the recipe book which comes with it, I tried it with a 1.5kg gammon and it was a great success.
