Drum Island & Alabaster
This fourth collection of the great 'One Piece' anime contains a further twenty-five episodes (079 to 103) covering the entirety of the Drum Island arc and the beginning of the Alabaster arc.The first thirteen episodes of this collection are the Drum Island arc. With Nami sick, the crew land on the Winter Island of Drum in search of a doctor to find the island recovering from the tyrannical rule of its former king and the attack of the powerful pirate Blackbeard. While on the island the Straw Hats attempt to get treatment for Nami from the island's remaining doctor but the return of the hated king complicates matters. The Drum Island arc is definitely one of the better arcs from the early part of the series with some very emotional moments alongside some reasonably good action. The arc also sees the Straw Hats gain a new crewmember and sees the first mention of Blackbeard, a pirate who will become very important to the plot later in series. The final twelve episodes see the crew finally reach Alabaster where they begin to help Vivi stop the rebellion and expose Baroque Works' plot before anyone else can be killed. After gathering supplies, and running into some unexpected acquaintances, the crew head off across the desert to reach the rebel camp at the city of Yuba. Although the Alabaster arc is very good as a whole, it is a little slow to get started with a few episodes of filler inserted here and there (some of which is quite good but there is at least one minor plot hole due to one filler episode). This part of the arc also reveals the identities of the top agents of Baroque Works and shows us some of Vivi's backstory. The animation of the series remains generally good with the fight choreography and general scenery done well. The English dub of the series remains generally good with most of the vice actors giving very good performances with Julie Mayfield as Dr Kureha, Travis Willingham as Fire Fist Ace, Kyle Hebert as Cobra Nefertari and Todd Haberkorn as Kohza are doing very well. I will admit that I was a little disappointed by Brina Palencia's performance as Chopper when I first heard it but it has definitely grown on me and now I can't imagine him with any other voice. There are two things that I dislike about the English dub whoever, the first being the English dubbed songs that I have mentioned in previous reviews while the other is the removal of the term Okama. Okama is a Japanese slang term for a cross dresser and it is one Mr 2 Bon Kurei uses a lot and I feel that the terms used to replace it in the English dub lose something (and not using the term will probably result in a few issues in later arcs where the term comes up again). These are only relatively minor issues however and the dub is otherwise of good quality (the Japanese is included as well of course). The collection includes the usual extras including cast commentaries, textless songs and trailers.Overall this was another great instalment of the 'One Piece' anime and is easily worth a full five stars.

keeps getting better
Collection 3 picks of where the last one left of, with the Straw hat crew looking for a doctor for the termanly ill Nami. following this arc, and with a new crew member, Tony Tony Chopper (the character on the box) the crew arrive in Alabasta and assist Vivi in searches for the leader of the rebels and to stop Baroque works. If you've seen the last 3 collections then this is a part that can't be missed since it leads to one of the first major story arc on the grand line. For those who have seen the 4kids dub, then i would recommend you watch the funimation dub as it is uncut.
