MEG X670E ACE

A well constructed system board. It features a good range of USB connections and was a simple install. My setup was aimed at VR so added 32G of DDR5 @ 6000Mhz and a Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU. I now have a fantastic system for VR with 120 FPS on the Quest3. Boot time is lightning fast, almost like awakening from sleep mode. Plenty of space for cooling around the CPU, easy to use customisable control of the system cooling fan speeds and colour. Ample slots for memory and add on cards. The onboard sound is good and the network connection is fast, I like the external connections for the Wi-Fi antenna (provided) is a nice feature. Overall, I am more than happy with the setup and performance. Thoroughly recommended for VR gaming.

I recently purchased the MSI X670E Gaming Plus WiFi for a recent build, and overall, it’s been a great experience. What I Liked: BIOS Flashback Being able to use the BIOS Flashback feature to install my Ryzen 9 9800X3D without needing an older CPU was a lifesaver. It worked without any fuss, which was one of my concerns when building. Good Header Placement The headers are in easy-to-reach spots, which made building and cable management much simpler. There was enough room to route cables cleanly without feeling cramped. Nice Build Quality The board feels well-made and solid. It has a good weight to it, and I wasn’t worried about it flexing or breaking while I installed various components onto it. Future-Looking Features With PCIe Gen 5 for the x16 slot and one of the M.2 slots, it’s nice to know the board is ready for upgrades in the future. It’s also on AMD’s AM5 platform, so it should support new CPUs for a little while longer. Plenty of Storage Options Storage won’t be a problem anytime soon. There are four M.2 slots—one PCIe 5.0 and three PCIe 4.0. That’s plenty fast and spacious for gaming or whatever else I need. BIOS Options There are a lot of BIOS options for tinkerers. Upon first boot inspection, the defaults were set as I expected for gaming and I didn't have to change anything. Once I had Windows installed, I enabled EXPO and PBO which was painless. Price Is Reasonable For an X670E board, the price seems to be quite competitive considering the features the board offers. What I Didn’t Like: Not a Fan of the Branding The branding on the board isn’t really my style. It’s not a huge deal since I’m not looking at it when I’m gaming, but it’s worth mentioning for those that are more picky.

This MSI motherboard has been fantastic for my build. Installation was straightforward, and all the components fit perfectly without any clearance issues. Being the maniac that I am, I decided to build a fourth PC and as I'd not used the newer AMD chips (7000) series, I thought I'd give it a go. Having built my Intel build on MSI previously and an AMD build on ASUS, I thought I'd try the AMD offering by MSI and, while I'd have loved a Carbon, money/value is a thing and this seemed to tick the boxes - 4 NVME's, PCI-E 5.0, tons of USB ports and so on. Arriving in a box with a nice hole/dent in it - I checked if it was damaged but whatever went through hadn't hit the motherboard - I proceeded with my installation (over a day or so.....). I will state - the I/O shield is sharp as heck - I sliced my thumb open quite a bit due to a slip (hence the day or so cos......yeah). However, fitting the board into the chassis wasn't an issue, nor was removing the CPU retainer and putting another one in (I had to test if this was a better solution). First thing I noticed - thought it was dead. Like dead dead. Had 2 lights indicating CPU and RAM weren't good. Oh crap, I thought. However I left it on for like 30 seconds or more and then it started (phew. Positive note - didn't go boom so there's that). Gave me the "New CPU" message, rebooted and as I had a newer BIOS, I flashed that. Once started, installed Windows and everything went fine - no issues as such. Still not sure on the CPU speed as yet (I haven't seen it boost, but not seen it not boost, unlike the Intel CPU I had which just seems to be perma-boosted). It also asked me to install the MSI software which you can pick n choose without a DVD or USB (I assume it picked that up motherboard side, which is a very nice touch). Seems very stable otherwise - no issues with anything thus far. Criticisms - BIOS/Startup speed. My older 5000 series AMD build starts MUCH faster than this from power on. I haven't seen/spotted a "Fast Boot" option for the BIOS, so if there is one, it's not so obvious which is a shame. Also the first NVME didn't seem to like having an SSD with its own heatsink - so I'm booting from the 4th one which is fine (it's not a V5 one) but.....kinda not how I'd like it. That said - build went well, very stable thus far and for the low price, it's fine. Yes I'd prefer a Carbon, but at over £150 difference currently, hard to justify it.

Nie mialem żadnych problem z instalacją nowego AMD 7 9700X, obawiałem się że będę musiał instalować nowy Bios, ale okazało się płyta przyszła z info. na pudełko - Ryzen 9000 ready. Po małych zmianach w bios płyta szybciej się uruchamia i jestem bardo zadowolony.

Excelente placa base! La MSI X870 Gaming Plus WiFi funciona de maravilla con mi nuevo Ryzen 5 9600X. Instalación sencilla, BIOS clara y ya compatible sin necesidad de actualización. El WiFi integrado es rápido y estable, ideal para jugar o trabajar sin cables. La calidad de fabricación es excelente: buen rendimiento, muchos puertos, soporte para M.2 y USB rápidos. Relación calidad/precio excelente para una configuración moderna y evolutiva. ¡La recomiendo totalmente para quienes montan un PC alrededor del 9600X!
