Nice system for the price.
This is the third camera system I've installed in my home in the last few months. The first one was a Lorex system that cost around $1200. I returned it because I could not get it to quit giving false motion alerts. Then I bought an 8 camera Reolink system. That system was a big improvement and I was happy with it. Then, browsing Amazon, I noticed they had this 12MP eight camera system for a few hundred more dollars. I was still within the return window on the first Reolink system so I returned it and purchased this system. It has been great so far. Very good image quality. The app is simple and easy to use. Setup was easy. I haven't had any interactions with tech support so I can't comment on that. Upgrading to this system also gave me lights on the cameras, audible alarms on each camera, and the ability to talk and listen over the cameras. Those are all nice features and work well.A few things I'd change... 1) The cameras don't lock on to the mounting plate. They just spin on and there's a slight click. If a dirt bag wanted to, they could just unscrew the camera and pull it off. That was one thing the Lorex did better, it had little set screws that locked the cameras to the plate so removing them would require a tool and at least a few minutes of time.2) I think like most of these "cheaper" systems, the smart detection is kind of a gimmic. I've been trying for a month to get the settings where it only tells me if there is a person or a vehicle in the camera's view. It still occasionally alerts me to a wasp, a cat, or nothing that I can discern. It is an improvement over the Lorex technology, though. I'm hopeful one day I'll get the settings just right.3) Not enough NVR storage capacity. I like to keep my system recording 24/7. I could get about 5 days of recordings before it started overwriting older stuff. That wasn't enough for me so I added a 6TB Seagate drive (not cheap!) in addition to the one that comes with the system. I think it can keep about 12 days of recordings stored now. If I ever get to a place where I 100% trust the accuracy of its motion triggers, I may switch it to record motion only. That would greatly increase the amount of days I could keep on the storage.Overall, I like this system and for the cost I consider it a good deal. I looked at a couple of U.S. company's commercial systems when I was shopping and they were $2500-$4k for the same amount of cameras and comparable NVRs. The way I look at it, I saved a ton of money and all it cost me was the weaker camera mounting system (which hopefully will never be a problem) and the occasional false motion alert. Thanks for reading! Hope that helps someone in their search.

Super smooth replacement of a failed Camera...
I am so very pleased with Reolink's Tech Support...This truly is what excellent service is all about...1: Each person was so efficient and well versed in their products...2: Each tech followed up with emails checking to see that I was happy with my camera status...I had one of my 8 cameras stop working and they responded to my Service request almost instantly...As a retired IT manager steeped in Hitech this is where all Companies should be in helping maintain and grow their customer base... As we all know, Word of mouth can really Make, or Break a Company today...I cannot recommend a better company and the purchase of their products...Their software also is a pleasure to configure with it's intuitive excellence of design...Also the resolution of these Cameras is truly a dream come true...Well done Reolink..!!!

Below is the original reviewNovember 15, 2024NO SD CARD SLOT! 1200D 16 Megapixel POEThis is the first time I've installed Reo Link cameras. I did run into a few issues which I will address in a later or updated review.I spent hours prepping everything, making sure everything was ready to go. Then I decided it's time to install the SD cards just prior to installation. Can you imagine my frustration when I realized this particular unit does not have an SD card slot. Darn it!Well this set will be going back and I will select a different one that has the SD card slot. The reason I had selected this particular unit which is the 1200d camera is because it is a 16 megapixel the latest and greatest and I don't want to have to upgrade cameras anytime soon.Unfortunately, if it doesn't have an SD card on the camera. 🥺 It's just not worth it to me. The 1200D 16 megapixel cameras just use up more bandwidth on my Internet service and valuable space on the hard drive. Therefore, I'm only seeing drawbacks to the updated camera . This particular camera additional value for the extra money. Plus it isn't a bunch of my time figuring things out. It would be nice if they happened to note that this camera does not have an SD card storage slot available. For my money the 1200d 16 Megapixel cameras do not provide camera anything additional value for the extra expense and the increased price of the camerasOnce I get the final set and get it all set up I'll write another review. In the picture you will see the microphone. It's not an SD card slot. In addition, these screws are already stripped on one side of each of the microphone. I'm going to guess it's probably not ideal to slip an SD card into the microphone 😉Giving the benefit of the doubt, perhaps rolink realized that people would mistakenly think that this was an SD slot. And intentionally made it impossible to remove those little tiny screws.I tried to update this review and wasn't able to. I bought another system from ReoLink because I was hoping the other system would work better. Please check my other reviews I WROTE ANOTHER ONE AND IT IS REALLY TERRIBLE. DON'T BUY THIS SYSTEM! SOFTWARE IS HORRIBLE. ZERO CUSTOMER RESPONSE. ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY SHIFTY SALES PRACTICES. I CAN'T BELIEVE AMAZON EVEN SELLS THESE PRODUCTS!That being said, I did report it to Amazon and they said they will look into it.
