Protects the screen and the sticks so you don't have to take the sticks off the controller when you put the controller back in the bag. As far as sun goes it really doesn't do much and I haven't found any sunshade to really do much - but this is to protect your controller sticks and screen when you store it. It's a must have item if you like to protect your equipment.

Simplicity is the name and it is that as well as effective for it’s purpose.The ONLY thing I see as a negative is the fact that you must hold the back of the hood when you open or you will break it. This is because there are not anchor points on the top of the RC controller and that is because there’s no place for them (unless the hood can be redesigned to accommodate top anchor points).If it had that, you wouldn’t have to hold the back of the hood to open it and I would have given a rating of 5 stars instead of 4.Edit: 5/14/23Today I had a thought pop into my head when I was flying earlier. How bout using double sided 3M sticky pads to hold down the top portion of the sun shield hood. So that’s what I did and now I don’t have to hold the hood in the back to open it. It is now secured by using the double sided sticky pad. Looking at my attachment, you can see the sticky pad between the hood and my controller. Worked beautifully

This on screws onto the controller and you leave the controller sticks in even when you close it! So you don’t have to worry about them ever falling out and loosing them, unless you don’tmake sure they are tight each time you use it. It’s easy to fit into the bag it comes with and has 2 settings to pick from depending on how bright the sun is and your preference.

The media could not be loaded.  This is a really nice cover specifically designed for the DJI RC controller.If you fly a lot, you’ll quickly realize you really need a sunshade. I’ve used the other type for my DJI RC N-1 controller. it was plastic and Velcro and flexible. I liked it a lot. However when I got the new controller with the built-in screen and protruding control sticks, I wanted something different. I was thrilled when I saw this sunshade/cover.- It works as a sunshade. It doesn’t have side protection, which is a little too bad. However the other benefits outshine (so to speak) that negative.- It protects the screen really well. I don’t like those film or plastic screen protectors and I don’t want to break the screen, so the screen protection is nice.- It protects the joysticks so you don’t have to remove them every time you pack up.- it has nice thumbscrews that keep the whole thing firmly attached to the remote.- it has cooling grilles over the remote’s heat sink, although they do obstruct the air flow more than I would like.- it’s very lightweight and thin. That’s helpful in fitting it in your bag and avoiding fatigue when having the remote for a long time.- It’s designed so you can leave it on all the time, when it’s packed and when you’re ready to go. You don’t have to unpack it, attach it, set it up, adjust it and then worry it’s going to come off in flight. All of these things are important when you’ve already got a enough setup workload and maybe intrusive onlookers trying to talk to you. Flip the top open and fly.It’s really inexpensive for how incredibly usefulIt is, and the potential to protect your remote from stick or screen damage.Criticisms- the plastic feels brittle. Every time I open it, I do so very gingerly, since it feels like I’m going to snap it off or break the hinges.- It only opens to about 90 degrees. That’s normally okay-ish, but if I want to look down for a moment to see the sticks or mode selector or press the stop/RTH button, it’s frustrating. It makes you tip the controller forward or hold it higher up than you would otherwise. It’s not a huge problem, but is a little annoying.All in all I love this device, despite the delicate hinge and limited open angle. I leave it on all the time and it gives me a lot of peace of mind when I want to quickly toss the remote in my bag instead of treating it like a more delicate piece of electronics. Reccomended.

if you want something that will protect your screen and act as a sun guard while also taking up little space this is it. yes, it feels a bit brittle. but as long as you don't push back on it while it is up it should be fine. I could not find anything else that would be as easy to use and still fit in my hard side case without having to cut more space for it. nothing is better if you need something small to cover your controller and act as a sun shade.

You can buy others that state that they will do the same but there is nothing like this one that is foldable and can still fit into your go case

I do not have to remove the joysticks ... so great.

I bought and returned this hood because the frame used a too-soft plastic that over-flexes while opening the cover.
