Overall, really good
My only minor gripe is that there is a lot of grammar and emphasis on pronunciation at the beginning of the book which could be a bit daunting to a complete novice - though essential in the long run. But once I'd got through that, I found it a great book, logical exercises and interesting conversations. So good to have the audio to go with it.

For a beginner learning French, this book is awesome, so easy to understand, and it takes you through the basics of French, also audio to complement the book, i am at the early stages of learning French,and found this book so help-full , i would definitely recommend this book.

Great for a real beginner
I have found this book very useful. I am a real beginner beginner. I needed to learn the alphabet and the numbers. This book has been a really good companion. I have been using it now for about two months. I have been combining it with flashcards on my phone (I have nearly 1000 words memorized), Alice Ayel (she's great -- google her!), and a French tutor once a week. I am just finishing Unit 2 now, so I can't comment on the complete book yet. However, I really like how the book is organized with simple to understand explanations. I also like the activities and that you can get the audio version free online (there is a website to go to on page 6). I highly recommend this book if you're looking for a nice combination of activities, explanations, and some listening.

Good beginner book but god so many mistakes when it comes to the answers to the question
A pretty good book that explains the basic grammar. I'm only 1/3 into the book and so far I have found a few mistakes in the back of the book where all the answers to the questions are, is it the end of the world? no but for a book that's suppose to teach you French, mistakes like this shouldn't really happen. I'll give one example of one mistake I found, In the chapter that teaches you about family names there is a question that asks who Julien is to Sophie, in this question the real answer is sister-in-law but the answer given by the book is cousin, which could make it really awkward if you where to use this information when talking to a French person. So if you where to buy this book really check the answers.
