The time depends on the tree, the time of year, and what is being injected. I have seen times from less than a half hour to more than a day.

How much does it hold is there marks to measure the dose

Yes there are measure on the side and the max is 25 which I would assume is ml.

Can this be used to kill invasive ivy?

The trunk needs to be at least two inches in diameter. A hole is drilled in the trunk and the injector placed tightly in the hole and left in place for the liquid being injected to be slowly taken up by the tree.
