A First Class Design!
As stated this product requires assembly. You get a flat box containing 2 floor panels, roof section/peaks, 4 "B" room dividers, 4 "A" room dividers, 2 doors, 4 outside walls, 1 ceiling plate, perches and their mounting brackets, and then a really nice base plate that your pole (pole not supplied) fits in. Of course, you get three bags of 5/16" nuts and Phillips head screws. Two of the bags contain the same fasteners (this is an exact count, don't lose any LOL) and one bag has just enough to attach the 2 roof peak sections, rail clips to complete the roof. I actually enjoyed putting the house together because it is an excellent well thought out design. Instructions were better than most with some good pictures. All of the components fit easily together and the screws, nuts are high quality. There were no sharp metal edges to slice fingers. I would not want to assemble it with only a wrench, you need a 5/16" nut driver to work with your Phillips head screwdriver. Once together it is very solid and you will appreciate the way the doors swing up to make any clean outs an easy chore.

This takes patience to construct.
Lots of pieces. Directions are fairly clear. There are no shortcuts. You do end up with a very sturdy house that is well built (you have a lot to do with that), and attractive in your yard and to the martins. Mine has been up since early spring replacing a house that had martins the previous season. The purple martins adopted it readily and built their nests and have started to raise their young. Attaches to the round pole also sold by the same seller.

Made in USA
I have wanted a Marlin house forever..did some research and read reviews. I decided on this one. I also like the fact it's made by a small business in the US. It's made well and has all the features that are good to attract and keep birds coming back to jest each year. The only bad thing is the time and patience required to put it together! It has lots of small screws. I think it took at least three hours. It's worth it if you don't get discouraged.

Very nice martin house but assembly is a journey.
End result is a very nice martin house. Several reviewers commented on the difficulty of assembly and they were not wrong. I think at least one or two stated a woman is also needed for assembly. I think most men would stuff it back in the box and return it or just throw it away. This project has a lot of sheet metal panels and a bag full of screws and lock nuts. I am not going to say how many hours it took us to assemble but we are proud of the finished product. The directions are so so and we had to backtrack a couple of times. It helps if you can understand the purpose and functionality of each panel as you install it but that will probably not occur until it is nearly finished. Good luck!

Cut my hands 4 times trying to assemble would never buy again
Directions were not very good, very small screws and nuts very hard to tighten in the small enclosed spaces. metal very sharp. Cut my hands 4 times assembling. took me almost 3 1/2 hours to assemble.

Job is my Hero
These martin houses are a quality American made product and my birds love them. Now, if Birds Choice will only include a ice pick, monkey and prayer book in the box. An ice pick to align holes for assembly, a monkey for dexterous manipulation and a prayer book for forgiveness after profanity laced tirades trying to put the ))$((&&$!!!!!! together. I have assembled 2 in the past year and it is a maddening process. The instructions are spot on and it doesn’t take a genius to put the house together, but the gazillion screws and nuts required are tiny and you can’t attach them and see them at the same time.I assembled my houses by my lonesome. If you are considering purchasing one, either enlist aid, hire someone to assemble it for you, or say your prayers of forgiveness in advance.

Beautiful bird house
Beautiful bird house. Very well made. The directions are easy to read and understand however it requires two people to actually put together due to a large number of screws and nylon locking nuts. This requires several sizes of screw drivers and a rachet or wrench, using both hands to tighten while someone else holds the parts together. I am very mechanical inclined and it took me over 2 hours to assemble. I do plan on purchasing another due to it's design and quality.

Lots of tiny parts to assemble
I have tried lots of different martin houses over the years down here in Texas. Aluminum, Wood, Plastic. . . I have tried them all. I went with this one because of its small size. I live in a master planned community where you have small yards with neighbors right on top of you, thus you can't put up the big eye sore martin houses. This one looks great in a small yard, doesn't stick out or attract too many martins. From that standpoint it is a great option. The reason I gave it 3 stars is it is a bit of a pain to put together. It is not that bad if you have skinny fingers and small hands, but you have lots of little nuts and screws that have to be placed in very hard to reach places. Once you get it put together however is it very sturdy and should last forever. It comes with a pole mount that makes it easy to mount to a 1.25 inch pole. However there are not a lot of good telescoping poles that work with the mounting flange on this house, thus making nest checks difficult. Birds choice makes a telescoping pole, but it is way too big for this little house and way over priced as well. The martins like it, and it protects them well. Hope this review helped.
