Thoroughly Enjoyed
I wanted to read this book before seeing the musical and I’m so glad I did. Although the 1850’s style of English language took a minute to comprehend, and to adapt to, it was well worth the effort. The book is very well written and it’s a wonderful story. I may read it again sometime soon.

Couldn’t put it down until I had finished it!
Saw this book prominently displayed on the bookshelf of a teacher whom I admired greatly, and decided I needed to read it too. Am glad I did! I chose the original edition so I could get the full flavor of it’s author. Good thing I read the Kindle edition so I could have a dictionary at hand, which I referred to often. The plot of the story I did not know, so it was a real page turner. It was a morally refreshing story of a woman who stuck to true principles in choosing her love in life. I could really relate to her fears and woes, as well as to the friends and relationships she chose..

Wonderful C!assic Novel
One of my favorite books when I was a child. I liked and appreciated it much more now. It has so much meaning and lessons for good living that can be applied to modern day life. It also is full of romance with examples of what true love really is.

Great Classic...and about those pictures
Hi! I have the latest generation of Kindle, and I couldn't wait to purchase this book...I read it every year at christmas, and cry (no fail) when Jane hears her name in the wind...my heart aches for them to be together. I was interested in this for the amazing story, not just for the pictures...plus the amazingly awesome price being under a buck was another great factor. I haven't found the pictures yet...but to be brutally honest, wasn't really looking for them either. I am reading an amazing piece of literature, not a kindergarden picture book. :)

favorite book from when i was 15
one of the best all-time classic gothic novels. loved this book at 15 and now i am 51 and have re-read it again. exciting, creepy, romantic, full of pain and joy--this book has it all. i can't wait until my 10 and 12 year old girls are ready to read this. i might even read it aloud, but i think i'll wait for a couple years. the romantic part of it may be lost on them at this point. i think this is the best bronte book, and liked it much better than wuthering heights. read it and decide for yourself!

An excellent novel and well worth the read/listen
An excellent novel and well worth the read/listen. A note regarding this edition with respect to the audio accompaniment: The chapter recordings are provided by the free service for the visually impaired, Audiovox. The links to these chapters come at the END of the book. I ended up listening to some chapters via the Audiovox website - as a result of an internet search - only to discover the links at the end. (I had thought that they would be in a table of contents at the start.)

Kindle 3 with no illustrations.
Great classic story, of course. I saw some other people complaining that there were no pictures, then a post from what appeared to be an Amazon employee stating that it was a problem only older kindles have. Since I'm using the newest Kindle 3 I figured I'd have no problems. Not so! No pictures showed up for me, either, which makes me quite irritated since I purchased this version for the pictures. What did I expect, for a buck?

My all-time favorite author and novel
My all-time favorite author and novel. Superbly written and narrated. The language and prose flows gracefully and is emotionally stirring. As a reader, you become mentally and spiritually connected with the main character and heroine Jane, as you walk beside her on her life's journey.
