

"Plancha" is a Spanish word that literally translates as ยplate,โ and refers to both a style and a method of cooking, using a metal slab heated over a gas flame. In Spain, planchas are widely used in tapas bars and restaurants to cook an incredible assortment of foods, from mussels to mushrooms and even desserts. In private homes, planchas are often installed in the middle of round tables, so that both the hosts and their guests can share in the cooking experience and no one is stuck in the kitchen. Seven Fires is ten times the book at only twice the price; it teaches one just about everything they need to know about plancha cooking, and there's really no reason to own this instead. If you're not an adventurous cook and need a recipe to follow, you may enjoy the variety in here, but I personally rely on a cookbook to teach me techniques and approaches and best practices. There's very little of that in Plancha - no background or context or wisdom, no stories or experience, just recipe after recipe.

This is a summer keeper
I ordered this before it was published on my IPad. It is a great both for summer and fast cooking. I bought the griddle and this book for me, my daughter and as a wedding gift. I had been in Spain for a couple of months and this griddle is is really is really used outside on a BBQ. This book has recipes for how to use it, how long to cook items, and many marinades and sauces.

Mediocre recipes, but a lot of them...
I just got Francis Malmann's fantastic Seven Fires: Grilling the Argentinian Way, and am all fired up - so to speak - about getting into plancha (or chap) cooking. I figured this book would be a worthwhile companion. Unfortunately, it just....isn't. Seven Fires is ten times the book at only twice the price; it teaches one just about everything they need to know about plancha cooking, and there's really no reason to own this instead. If you're not an adventurous cook and need a recipe to follow, you may enjoy the variety in here, but I personally rely on a cookbook to teach me techniques and approaches and best practices. There's very little of that in Plancha - no background or context or wisdom, no stories or experience, just recipe after recipe.

Healthy and delicious ways to grill
The plancha recipe book contains great easy recipes for using the plancha. We use it constantly and have given this edition to a friend as a gift. If you are into healthy eating and like the Mediterranean style of cooking in the grill, this book will make it easy for you.

great easy spanish cooking
What an awesome cookbook! The recipes are easy to follow and the photos help to envision the end result. This book is a lucky find for those, who are reluctant to try Spanish foods. The pictures will make you drool, they look so delish. I can't wait to try a dish or two or all. Get this book while it's free!

The book is a fair representation of Plancha grilling. However, most of the recipes are very plain - such as grilled shrimp - and have nothing to do with Spanish-style cooking or with grilling in general. Not worth the money - even if you purchased it for cheap.

I love my Steven Raichlen plancha but I am disappointed with this cookbook. It seems to be mostly marinades and very little on main courses which I was hoping for in this cookbook.

The book arrived on time and is ok.
The recipes are simple and straight forward, easy to prepare. Nothing out of the box. I will refer to this book when using the grill.

Mi plancha es perfecto!
Since buying this plancha book I have used many of the recipes. I hardly used conventional pans anymore. Both meat and vegetables are cooked to perfection. Only thing missing is the sunshine of Spain! You may wish to vary some of the cooking times to suit the thickness of your meat/vegetables etc. Other than that it is great and no more multiple plans to wash.
