Pretty good shelf liner
I recently cleaned the shelves in my garage, and when I stripped off the old soiled shelf liner, I saw that whoever had installed it had used Tyvek homewrap. I couldn't come up with a better substitute, so I bought a fresh roll and did the same thing. The wrap was about a foot wider than the shelves, but when I folded it down it held a nice crease. I was intrigued to see that it is actually made of HDPE plastic... the same thing they use in milk jugs. But since it comes in a big sheet, it probably isn't recyclable (it isn't the right number for plastic film recycling). And it certainly isn't compostable. But at least it seems really durable, so the new liners should last a good number of years.

The best if you follow directions
Got the best for my house wrap job - Tyvek. Got the tape to use with it. Be sure to read and follow application instructions for both products.

Exactly what I was looking for
I had some hail damage and needed the paper to cover under the siding I replaced. This was just enough to do the front of my home and it was much cheaper than the hardware store. Would recommend.

Not impressed with Tyvek
I had never used Tyvek and quickly learned the many reasons why it is inferior to 30lb tar paper. You should understand that special nails and staples must be used or the Tyvek has no purpose. It does not seal around the nail/staple like tar paper does. Also Tyvek can create a condensation barrier which accelerates rot and mold growth in the sandwiched materials (Underlayment and cladding). Tyvek is very thin and extensive research has shown that it can deteriorate more quickly than acceptable with some reporting significant deterioration within 10-15 years. In any case I did not use it.
