Not just Command strips. Excellent for their intended use.
I imagine that the seller copied the manufacturer's text in the description. I would have preferred a little more information since I can't examine the object myself. This isn't just Command adhesive strips- but a system of 2 strips which attach together using 3M's velcro-like hook-and-hook system. It allows for slight repositioning should you not get it perfect the first time, without removing the adhesive from the wall or the back of the painting. It also makes it possible to hide the removal tabs which all Command products have. I work in an art museum, and we sometimes use velcro to hang paintings. The 3m version is even better that the velcro brand hook-and-loop. When used as directed, I'm sure that the weight rating for each strip is accurate. There's no need to use extra strips 'just in case', as some reviewers have.In my case, I had intended to use these for something other than their intended use, and it would have been useful to know that these are: a) white and opaque, not clear and transparent like much of the product line, and b) much thicker, about 1/8th inch.

Works great for recording studio acoustic panels & foam
Used these to hang acoustic foam in my recording studio and they did exactly what was needed, provided enough support to keep the heavier 2' x 2' 4" thick foam on the wall without damaging the walls in my apartment. Very pleased with the product. Updating this review in 2023, I got rid of the foam but these were strong enough to hold up my 4’ x 2’ x 2” rockwool panels. Highly recommend these for putting up acoustic treatments, tip though if you’re having trouble getting it to stick to the panel or the fabric on the edges in the back of the panel, super glue one strip to the panel and stick the other one on the wall like normal and everything will stay in place when you connect the strips, I was able to get my acoustic panels to stick with that trick.

These are a pretty clever design
These are a pretty clever design. Basically, you use to halves of exactly the same thing. One half has a sticky side which goes on the object. The other half has a sticky side that sticks to the wall. Now, what is left over are the other sides of the pieces, which are 2 pieces of looped velcroe, which look like they would never stick together, but they do, and when pressed firmly, you will hear a pop. When all the pops are out, the 2 pieces are adhered firmly. They were great, except the only thing we didn't like is that they did not stick to textured walls too well, and we had to add a drop of super glue to the wall occasionally. They were used in our house to hang all forms of sea life on our marine themed bathroom wall. So far so good.

Terrible. They don't work as easily as they claim
Terrible. They don't work as easily as they claim. Tried hanging a small picture, fell off the wall. When I tried to remove the strip from wall, pulled off paint. Would not waste money on this. Only reason it got 1 star was due to fast shipping.

Seriously, what can't you hang with Command Strips?
They hold strong and work great! Saves lots of wall damage. I use them for framed artwork, holding lamp cord switches where I want them, holiday decorations that you only want up temporarily, structural framing, foundation repair, attaching flat screen TVs to walls, hanging ceiling fans, cable management, and more. We actually just completed building our first home using no nails or screws whatsoever - just Command Strips! Best part is - you wanna move a wall to reconfigure your home - just pull and stretch the Command Strip parallel to the surface it's adhered to, and voila - you have a guest room!Pro Tip: Surface preparation.

Don't work on textured walls
Don't work very well on textured walls. I had these before in another house and they worked great! Loved them, however we moved and the walls here are textured and these don't work very at all. They pictures have fallen off several times and a few have broke. Make sure you don't have textured walls!

These made it SO EASY to place each piece where it looked best without ...
We have a metal art run of salmon that stretch out along an 18' long wall. There are over 50 pieces to this work. These made it SO EASY to place each piece where it looked best without trying to mess with hanging at angles off of strategically placed nails..... Done with picture hanging nails in our house....the larger heavier works will just get more of these....very easy to hide from view, and amazingly easy to use!! Thank you 3M!!!! Need a something to use for ads.....come look at our salmon run!!

I keep ordering more because they are so useful. Don't even bother with the smaller ones
I keep ordering more because they are so useful. Don't even bother with the smaller ones, these are the ones you need. Works well for pictures and other wall hangings, setting my microwave in place so it doesn't fall off the small shelf, setting up a sturdy plant display on the back porch railing, holding up my heavy apron in the kitchen, adhering cat 'runs' to the front window sill, and the floor mat under the door, etc etc. Trust me, you'll find things to use these on, and wish you had more.
