These are brilliant and great quality. Lovely colours and perfect for my 3 and 4 year old as a visual aid to minimise the arguing of playing with toys, preparing them and helping with routines.

I bought these to help a small child understand time, as story time was being slyly extended night by night. They are very well built, colourful and nice to use. Occasionally one or two of them get clogged (a tap releases the blockage easily) and I can't say they are amazingly accurate. However, seeing as I never need to boil the small child like I would an egg, accuracy isn't essential. They suit the purpose for which they were intended perfectly and I am now rolling with a 15-minute story time each night like the King of Dads.However... since purchasing them, I have become morbidly obsessed with watch my life slipping away in 1, 3, 5, 10, 15 and 30 minute increments. I resist, but even now I cannot help flipping one over and watching, sobbing, as the grains of sand slide ever downwards. Flowing silently. Stripping away the seconds as they fall. I reach out. The fingers of my hand hovering near the glass. I pull sharply away, clenching into a fist. "No!" The word whispered and hoarse as I force it from my dry mouth. Time. I don't have time!

I bought these as a visual prompt for my 7 year old, to help her to manage her time more effectively with every days tasks such as eating, getting dressed, and having a shower etc. There are 6 different lengths of time, which cover most of the tasks, but can be turned over if more time is needed.The timers are of good quality and appear to be very robust, (having survived being dropped down the stairs on a couple of occasions!).Good value and great quality - they do the job they were designed for!

Love these timers. Obviously retro but great fun and good looking. They also have a bit of weight to them a feel good in the hand. As to accuracy mine are good. The problem is what is the time relative to? Is it relative to when you start the rotate, when the sand begins to flow or when the timer is back on the table? It makes little difference to the 30min timer but is more relevant to the 1min timer. My 1min timer seems too close to even mention. The 3min and 5min are 5secs out, 10min is 13secs over and the 15min is 8secs short. The 30min is usually about a minute out so 3%. If you are cooking and your stew only get 29mins are you bothered? How about if your stew gets three and a half hours? Yes, it can be that far out i.e. it can clog and completely stop. These timers are all the same size and depend of the size of the hole between the sections to achieve the differences. This leaves the flow of sand in the 30min timer barely visible as it is so thin. This is the only timer in my set to clog and ONLY clogged on one day. It was fine when it first arrived and it has been fine since but on the day in question I tried it 4 times and it clogged every time. Obviously I can't say with any certainty why this happened but the day in question was due to have a lightening storm although it never happened. This would suggest that there was a lot more static electricity in the air on that day and perhaps that caused the particles to clog.The timers are reasonably flexible with any number of minutes achievable by using them together. 25Mins by using the 10 twice and finishing with the 5 etc..My timers arrived in box with each timer in a separate bubble wrap pocket so well protected but even then one end cap of the 3min timer had fallen off. This was soon put right with a couple of blobs of glue.Most phones have a timer theses days and that is very handy but when you are home and cooking or playing games these are way more fun. I’m glad I didn’t miss the opportunity to get a set.
