It says in the description that the country of origin is China.

Q: Is this good for batoning wood

The Gerber Gear Bushcraft Hatchet has some weight that even with a dull edge I was still able to split wood. Now with batoning, I assume - it's to cross-cut some small branches into similar sizes. IMO it will be good for that. It's got a hammerhead as its poll so hitting it with a baton won't damage it.
