Mouse Working Very Poorly in Win7

The disc made strange noises in my PC's DVD player, even after eject and re-enter. Apps would not install from DVD but I copied two of the install .exe's to my hard drive and installed the two from there. I have 64-bit Win7 Pro and the two apps each had extremely goofie and sporatic mouse action; some menu items in the apps did not work at all. I uninstalled the two and did not try the other three.
