Great speakers at a low price.
I've been using Compaq speakers that were 11" tall for the past 10 years or so. I've used them with 2 or 3 desktop computers. Well, they finally bit the dust. After reading alot of reviews, looking at watts and other things, I picked these Arion speakers because I didn't want to spend more than $20. I plugged them in, and my favorite songs on YouTube sounded alot more clear. No more distortion, no more fading at higher volumes. These speakers can put out some volume. My wife was downstairs and remarked how clear she could hear the music while I was testing out the speakers. If you're into alot of bass, you need to get a 2.1 system with a subwoofer. If you're trying not to spend a lot, you'll be very happy with these. They look and sound great.

Awesome little speakers for the price you can not complain to much!
Got my new speakers today. Work great on tv music is ok also if you dont mind the no bass. Have not tried the headphone port yet. I gave it 4stars because the speaker wire could be a little longer get a better range on your sound. I got these because I needed less wire clutter and these did the trick. So again if your looking for decent affordable speakers for your tv or dvr box this is for you they are nice and clean looking and they package it vary well. Also an update as of 10/5/2014. -The back of the speaker tends to get warm the one with the volume and power button. But so far nothing to serious they still work great for TV just as I wanted the price is great. Also the headphone port seems to work for me may be a little static on cheap headphones but nothing serious again. For the price you can not beat it.

and bass like, until you turned the volume up to high ...
I must comment on these little gems. I used to sell stereo in the 80's. The cheaper stereo systems in the store had "ported" openings in the back of the speaker box. This meant a low wattage amplifier could sound reasonably loud ,and bass like, until you turned the volume up to high then it distorted horribly. I did not buy these similar ported speakers to "crank" up the volume, but to have a reasonable sound at a very low volume. This is what I got. It sounds clear and has a little bass to it, not to be confused with the "thumping" of a sub woofer. I noticed instrumental music and classical sounded great. Rock like Fleetwood Mac had a decent sound with a little bass. You Tube sound reminded me of TV from the same decade. Talk Radio is my main reason for the purchase. It fills my kitchen and dinning room with clear talk. Finally they are handsome pair of speakers which look expensive. The cabinet is wood grain, the front is a shiny black, and the speaker is a two tone black/white with a rubber roll edge.

Big Sound from Little Speakers
I was pleasantly surprised at the big sound that comes from these handsome little speakers. All the bass and treble sounds seem to come through clearly and there is plenty of volume. And I like their small flat rectangular shape for it makes them easy set on any side, and there is a hole in the back if you want to hang them on the wall. UPDATE: After a few months the speakers would stop working at times. It seems there must be s short circuit. It's a shame, for they good sound when they are working properly.

they were the best looking speaker I could find
I am a housewife of 3 kids. Over the years, I have purchased countless electronics for my kids. I decided to get one of these speakers because frankly, they were the best looking speaker I could find. When I got the speaker I was surprised by its size. It was GINORMOUS. thank goodness the visuals were very appealing. They have very nice colors to it and blends in nicely in our game room. My kids hooked up everything (it never stops to amaze me how quickly they can hook up electronics) and started playing their games. The sound was so loud, it caught my hubby's attention. So he tried the speakers with a movie and ~WOW~ was he impressed by the sound quality. These speakers are PHENOMENAL. My hubby, being a self proclaimed tech chief of the house, could not believe me when I told him I got these for under $50 on amazon with free shipping. He was guessing in the neighborhood of 200. Big, nice pat to myself.

Great for the price.
Stylish speakers with good output and real wood enclosure. Sound quality is good for the price and I get no noise or hiss from them when I turn them all the way up and mute the sound on my computer (That's been a problem with other speakers I've bought around this price point). Small thing to be aware of, The blue "on" light is really bright. Bright enough to be distracting. Bright enough I had to put a piece of black duct tape over it until I can find a better solution (Maybe black nail polish). Otherwise, one of the best pairs of cheap desktop speakers I've ever bought.

NOT THE SAME QUALITY as the Eagle Tech ET-AR504LR-BK 2.1 Speakers
I bought a set of Eagle Tech ET-AR504LR-BK 2.1 Speakers for a HDTV in my bedroom. They are easily a 5 star product so I bought these 2.0 speakers for my office PC. Unlike the 2.1 speakers that use RCA jacks I was very disappointed to find that these were hardwired. Pros: I would say they produce pretty good sound and the cases are built well. Cons: THIS IS A BIG CON. The left and right speakers are hardwired together with a ridiculously short wire. I mean like 3ft. apart is all the separation. I dropped my rating from 5 star to 2 star for this reason alone. This is really stupid. You would have to cut and splice in wire just to put them on the ends of a desk. This makes it very hard just to set them up. Come-on, wire is cheap. If you are going to be so cheap at least put a RCA jack on one end so you don't have to splice in a wire. This was a big disappointment just because it's so stupid.

A great value
Other more competent folks have reviewed the sound quality. For a desktop speaker that will do typical, reasonable quality audio, I am pleased. The length of the cable that connects the two speakers was a bit short for me. I have an 34" monitor (ultra-wide) and the cable was not long enough to allow me to put the speakers on either side of the monitor. I will have to lay them on the side and under the monitor. The volume knob was very difficult to turn. I expect it will be easier the more I use it. Finally, not as a knock, but as feedback to the manufacturer, I would prefer that the speaker (itself) was covered. I don't care for the look and I think it significantly increases the odds of damaged. Overall, I am satisfied and these speakers represent a great value.
