Caution of this Adapter Cable
I bought this adapter cable so I could charge my portable power bank (sogen) with 240VAC at 2800W instead of 120VAC 1800W. My 240VAC NEMA 6-20 extension cord was too short so I used it to extend a 12awg extension cord to 240V. It works as intended, but one can easily plug in a 120VAC appliance into this which may ruin the 120VAC appliance. This happened to me at a rental when an unaware (idiot) remodeler installed a NEMA 5-20 outlet on a 240V circuit. Overall, this is a dangerous adapter that must be used with extreme caution or you will destroy appliances, and can lead to property damage and/or fire. I'm not sure how these are legal to be sold on Amazon. It cannot be UL Listed...

Converts 120 volt extension cords to 220 volt.
This is a method to use a 120 volt extension cord in a 220 volt environment. You need the equivalent opposite sex version at the other end also. One important factor to consider is the gauge of the wire. Most 220 volt equipment requires 12 gauge wire at the least so use a 12 gauge extension cord. I found it to be very useful but you need to pay attention to what you are doing. My guess is OSHA would have a heart attack.

Poor quality
Worked off and on for a while. The first time I unplugged the male side, the ground pin fell out. I am still using it, but there was a repair involving soldering and an angle grinder, so most people would have tossed it. Will cut the plug off and put a less crummy plug on as a permanent repair, but this will likely cost more than the original item did. If anyone is wondering why the ground pin just fell out, it's a hollow cylinder of extremely thin sheet metal that appears to have been tacked on with one tiny dab of solder. I doubt it would have survived much regular use even if it had stayed attached.

EV charger adaptor
Converted my existing 6-30 240v outlet to work with my included Bolt EUV 120v charger cord. Now charges at 240v, 12 amps, up from 120v, 12 amps. Easily charge overnight without installing a 40-50 amp circuit. Make sure you label it "240 volts" (it's not labeled).

Best way to charge twice as fast
I use this with a Toyota OEM J-1772 car charger which has a 5-15 plug and is labeled for 120V but also works fine at 240V and hence can charge the car at twice the rate!

Works great. With OEM RAV4 Prime Charger.
After changing our breaker from 110V 15A to 220V 20A and putting in a 6-20 receptacle, this adapter was the final piece of the puzzle to inexpensively get the OEM Toyota 110V 12A charger on 220V. This cuts down the charging time by half. Full charge now takes only 5-5.5 hours.

Perfect for giving 240V to an L1 EV charger
Cable quality looks good, itโs nice and chonky. This is the adapter you need if you have an L1 EV charger that will accept 240V and charge at 3.8 kW instead of 1.4 kW. Definitely not UL/CSA certified; use at your own risk.
