Wasabi Power 2500mAh Extended Battery for HERO6 Black, HERO5 Black

I have been using Wasabi Power in my GoPros for since 2005 and I have has flawless performance form them! Now Wasabi has come out with an extended battery for the GoPro 5/6 and touts that you can get up to 4 hours of run time from one charge! I am here to tell you without a doubt you can.WHAT’S INCLUDED:Wasabi Power Extended Battery (2500mAh)Extended Battery FrameExtension Arm MountThumb ScrewMicro-USB Charging CableAll in all, this is an excellent buy, especially for anyone that doesn’t want to mess with swapping batteries. However it is not waterproof, so it can only be used in dry conditions. I did make a small modification to one of the frames (I have 3 of these) so that I can slip the battery/camera combo in from the front while still mounted to my bike.NOT Compatible with the GoPro HERO5 Session or other previous models (e.g. HERO4, HERO3, HERO2).

The battery definitely extended the record time. I use the gopro primarily at local hockey rinks, so the battery does not last as long as if it was at 20C. But still i get about 1.5 hrs @1080.The big downside is that the battery/gopro is held together with a plastic case. You have to bend it to get it on and off. It has lasted 5 months of use but everytime it seems like it will break. Also it covers the screen so you definitely need the app to see what is being recorded.

I have purchased several products by Wasabi and have been very pleased with the quality, design and functionality. I am disappointed with this product for these reasons: It is very difficult to place the camera with the attached battery into the housing so that I can use a camera mount. I don't think the housing will stand up to the stress needed, and will eventually break. The camera screen is also covered, so you cannot preview your shot or change settings using the touch screen. I would return it, but after paying return shipping, my credit would only be $8.00. In my opinion, a good idea with a bad design.

Battery charge is longer than standard go pro and that is the good side. I did a 3+ hour 1-take shoot on this battery. The bad side is the casing of the battery and it's overall design. You can't see the back screen so all settings AND lining up your shot have to be done before you power up. And the first (only) time I used this battery, the casing was a little weak and the battery connection would be lost (and camera power down) with any standard camera "shake" or movement. And then... when I went to make an adjustment and I had to pull the casing off, it broke in half. Had to tape the thing up all around to get it to hold the battery connection and hold the camera in place. Won't buy another one.

The media could not be loaded. The Wasabi Extended Battery for the Hero5 is a must-have if you want to shoot for long periods. I've easily filled up 64-gig cards with 2.7K video recorded for as long as 2 hours and 50 minutes. Depending on frame rate and video size you should be able to get up to 4 hours of recording time. The battery is light-weight, comes with a nice frame that surrounds the battery and GoPro to hold it all together, and includes a charging cable and extender arm for easier positioning of the camera when mounted. I highly recommend this battery. Pretty ingenious, the way they designed this on. Only downside is you have no access to the back screen - not usually such a big deal in my opinion. You just have to set your shooting parameters before connecting and framing the battery Hero5.

I had high hopes for this item and could not have been more disappointed. The construction of the battery and case appears to be good, and I had no issues or problems with that. However, after multiple uses, not once did this add any measurable amount of recording time! The battery indicator on the back of the battery pack expired very quickly, and by the time it was empty the camera's internal battery had also significantly depleted, despite the GoPro indicating that it was charging while the battery pack was in use. I suspect the battery is simply not what it is claimed to be, and while it was making the GoPro think it was being charged, in reality it was not.I've used several Wasabi products for other GoPro cameras, that have been rock solid - even performing beyond the manufacturers claims (specifically, the battery pack for the Hero3). Unfortunately, this one proved to be the complete opposite.

Works good i was able to record for up to 5 hours

I liked how it extends the recording time of the original battery which allows me to record entire games at high resolution for over two hours. Normally, I would have to put in a new battery after an hour, but not anymore. The biggest concern is the plastic housing that holds the battery and GoPro together. It is required to bend it open enough to slip around and every time I do it, I feels it is going to break in two. It has not yet, although I would be concerned to try it in colder weather. The price for the item is quite fair which made me willing to try it in the first place. Overall, it works as advertised and would likely buy it again.
