I thought my laptop was doomed and I honestly wasn't sure if I would be able to replace the part on my own because I only have experience with building / fixing desktops and its been years since I have worked with desktops.Once I got the accurate sized tech tools (kit), it took a few minutes to replace. Power is restored!

Simple to install fix for what hp should have addressed before shipping in the beginning. For those looking for a fix when the pc won’t charge and the led light at the plug won’t light up - try this fix first. Lots of install vids on YouTube.

The motherboard connector on this cable is not quite right. As it is, it cannot be inserted into its mating plug on the motherboard of the HP x360 Spectre 13-4005dx computer for which I purchased it. After close inspection, I found that this new cable has an "ear" on both the left and right sides of the connector, but the original cable from the laptop only has an ear on one side. In all other ways, the plug looked identical.In order to use this cable, I used a razor knife to trim off the plastic "ear" on the one side. It then fit the plug on the motherboard.In the end, I was able to make this cable work, but I should not have had to modify it, as its description explicitly states that it is correct for my application.

Item defective after a few weeks. Unable to return.

It is not an exact fit there is a tab that does not allow it to plug into the motherboard, I used a Dremel to do the surgery whatever you do don't try to force it in, but it does work after removing the plastic tab
