like the types of needles
I thought it was a knitting book about socks ONLY, but most of the book is spent on how to learn knitting (in general), like the types of needles, yarns, how to cast stitches, etc. and very little on how to make socks, which is what I was hoping for. I honestly did not learn anything new with this book.

Expected Better
Very pretty cover, but all of the photos are in blurry black and white. So disappointed. When you are reading an instructional book, especially a knitting book, you need to see the photos - the stitches. ESPECIALLY when the instructions refer you to a specific photo. Based on the cover, I never imagined all the photos would be in black and white. Then when I realized how blurry many of the photos are, I knew I wouldn't be able to use this book. I really expected better considering what the photo technology is these days, and also compared to what other instructional books look like. No complaints about about the writing. This is only the second book I have ever returned to Amazon.

Newly Knitting Socks
Knitting Socks, is a great book for beginner knitters like myself. I have always, been confused about what needles to buy and, which yarn to use but, it is all clearly explained within the book. Not only, is the book helping me learn how to hold the needles it also, provides step by step instructions on how to read knitting patterns; as a new knitter being able to read the pattern is important and, I thought it was extremely valuable. If you get caught on any knitting terms that you don't understand, (like I did) don't worry there is a glossary in the back explaining each word. There are many different sock patterns that have easy instructions and, helpful illustrations which, made it a lot easier to understand what I was doing. The book even provides tips for long lasting socks and, tips for beginners. Although, I am not left handed I found that a bonus was to have a section dedicated to those who are knitting left handed. Overall, I have really enjoyed the book and, will be recommending it to friends.

Knitting Socks and Loving It!!!
When I first bought this book I thought, “There’s no way I’ll be able to learn how to knit socks simply from reading a book,” but I decided I’d give it a try and see if the great reviews I had read were right. Well, I was definitely pleasantly rewarded! I was thoroughly impressed by how easy the instructions were to follow. You are walked through every single step in a clear and concise way. What really sealed the deal for me were the pictures that went along with the instructions. As a predominantly visual learner, having pictures available to turn to for reference really helped me during those moments I felt I might be taking a wrong turn, or should I say stitch, lol. Seriously though, this was beyond helpful, especially for someone who didn’t have the slightest idea where to start. Another great aspect of this book that I really loved was the fact that the book provides you with resources that can be linked to straight from the e-book, such as the link provided for free additional patterns online. It really is amazing to think that a couple of days ago I purchased this book and now I am finishing my very own pair of Absinthe socks!! I would definitely recommend this book to anybody who would like to learn how to knit socks or wants to pick up a new hobby.

You will NOT have a pair of socks after 3 days.
It seemed a little too good to be true, but I gave this book a chance because I'm brand new to knitting and excited to make socks. ... I'm doing this work on my own with just this book and some videos and even though I'm still pretty excited, I know I will not have completed a pair of socks in 3 days - the impression I had. It's pretty complicated for a beginner on her own. However, I am committed to leaning this fun and enjoyable skill and I WILL complete a pair of socks, I'm just not taking any bets as to "when." The book is filled with tons of useful information and I'm having fun practicing and skill building, and learning new stitches.

There is something wrong
Kindle edition. I do not know about hard copy. The pattern for the air raid sock is completely wrong. I downloaded the pattern from a well known knitters website and compared that pattern with one from the book. The stitch count is 64 not 60. This makes the difference between the pattern working and not. The written pattern is for some other pattern. In the book the written instructions that are for the sock has no yarn over and is over 6 stitches. In the download from the website the instructions match the chart. I struggled with this pattern because I am new to charts and patterns. I all but put me off trying. If you are a new knitter please do not buy the kindle version. I can not say if the hard copy is correct or not. .

Not what I was expecting
The "three days" in the title is very misleading as it is never mentioned again in the book. I was expecting a series of sock patterns leading me through slightly harder methods but instead there are some vague instructions, a missing chart in one and photos that don't match up to the patterns. There are several pictures of socks I would have liked to have made but the pattern is not included. Very disappointed. I will have to buy another book on sock making and read the reviews more carefully this time.

Disappointed
Disappointed. I thought this was for people who could knit but now wanted to master socks. Most of the book is about teaching beginners how to knit. If you want to learn how to knit there are specialist books. I just wanted to begin to knit socks.

Absolutely everything you need to know about knitting socks
This is a brilliant book for beginners. I've never tried knitting before but now can't wait to get started. The author goes through every step of the knitting process in fine detail. The book is very well written and has excellent photographs and diagrams. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to try sock knitting for the first time.
