La Crosse Technology S77925-INT Wireless Color Weather Station

If all you want is basic weather data, this is a very nice unit. Seems to be accurate and easy to set up. Looks nice on the wall. Doesn't have a very wide viewing angle. You pretty much have to look straight at the unit to read. The battery backup feature in the display works as described. After testing one unit in our home I purchased another for our cabin.

When my 20+ years old Accurite station died, I did a bit of homework and found this for a replacement. I have been very pleased with my choice. First, and best, the station itself has both ac adaptor and AA battery capability. I use the ac adaptor as primary power source with the 3 AA batteries as backup. The remote sensor uses two AA batteries (I'll report later on battery life in the remote sensor). The color display is crisp, easy to read, and nicely organized. This model also has a barometric display in either inches of Hg or millibar, and 24 hour barometric history graph in 3-hour increments. The temperature/humidity sensor is very sensitive and accurate. I find that all three (baro, temp, and hum) track very well with the daily readings on WeatherUnderground. LaCrosse is a little on the pricey side but not a deal breaker, considering the build quality and accuracy.

Easy to install, set up and get functional. Decent display with variable backlighting. Complaints are:1) There is no way to calibrate these things, and they are NOT accurate, typically being off by as much as 5% in all areas (Temp, inside and out, Barometer, inside and out and Humidity, inside and out)2) The "Atomic" clock portion of the unit does not work. I will write off to my location as other "Atomic" Clocks have also not synced up, but none-the-less, you would think these "Atomic" functions would have been improved so can be more sensitve to the signals.. I am at a 1000 ft elevation and would think that would be helpful in nailing the WWVB transmissions, but apparently not...

Bought it for the Humidity display. Temp easy to read for indoor and the out doors. can have up to 2 extra external sensors for 3 total. (need to press button to cycle through the 2 extra sensors) Pluss it is compatible with other La Crosse external sensors from earlier models which is really nice. Fairly accurate between internal and external sensors. plus a barometer. 3 stars on the tech support because the website is a bit vague, although I did find the answer to the weather prediction graphic.(just means a change of weather in the next 24 hrs)The ONLY con is if you want to mount it on the wall high up where a clock would be the viewing angle from below is much dimmer to even unreadable BUT on a desk or an end table (close to a window for the radio to keep time) it is bright and vibrant.

The weather station is a delight to have in the house, because it gives many details of the weather and phases of the moon and barometer reading and trend. As a night light, it provides a warm glow for a medium sized room.

My first La Crosse weather station lasted 15 years. I replaced it with the current La Crosse which didn’t last 2 months. The background light on/ off stopped working. I did notice that the current model feels light and flimsy. Wouldn’t buy again.
