Awesome lock, but easier and faster method to install than the included instructions
Worked great. After reading the instructions and watching youtube videos, I set out to do the installation. The pros want you to go out a drain hole on the driver's side of the tailgate then all the way to the firewall and punch through the truck wiring grommet, then remove kick panel and door threshold to get to the splice point at the pillar behind the driver's door. After a little thought, I realized it could be much easier than that. I started at the tailgate but from under the truck, I fed the wire through the same plastic grommet that the backup camera is on the passenger side. I did have to drill a small hole in each of the two plastic grommets big enough for the wire, but they are very easy to remove and you do not have to disconnect the camera. After got the wire into the tailgate, I was able to wire tie the Pop & Lock wire to the camera wire all the way to the handle mechanism. I did have to add just one wire stay at the very end next to the solenoid using a sticky attach to make sure the wire does not get pinched or tangled with the gate linkage (think 3M wire stay like at big box store). By placing this sticky attach between the latch and the top of the gate (top as when the gate is closed) then the connector is way less likely to every get any water into it, hoping to prevent any shorting out of the entire truck power door locks. Then that shorter section of wire was just wire tied along and under the rear of the bed to the other Tacoma wiring that runs from side to side. Then after feeding and wire tying the wire along the driver's side frame all the way to the area just under the driver's seat, there is a nice rubber grommet on the floor just under the driver's seat (about 1.5 inches diameter) and just on the outer side of the truck main frame toward the running board. Remove this grommet, poke a hole in the center of that rubber grommet and feed the wire into the cab, under the carpet, and in about 10 inches, you are at the pillar. Replace the grommet of course and now it is extremely unlikely you will ever get any water into the cab unless you drive through 2 feet of water. Then remove the pillar trim per the instructions to get to the wiring, but that was not too bad. Doing this alternate route avoided running the wire under the truck at the firewall where there is so much heat from the exhaust system that I do not believe you really want any wiring within any proximity of all of those numerous heat shields. Also what would you wire tie to around the heat shields? There really isn't anything to tie to. Also I did not feel comfortable poking a hole into the firewall rubber grommet where all of the main Tacoma wiring passes through, as in "what if I poke a hole into a wire where it should not be?" So all in all, a cleaner installation and the wire at the tailgate is piggy backed on the backup camera wire. Altogether, it took me about 3 hours to install, but I am pretty particular in routing and wire tying along the frame. With limited space to get my hands in to do the work, that is what took the most time. The system works beautifully! Awesome product. I am glad that I opted for the electronic lock instead of getting a key out every time for the next 15 years! The extra few dollars was well worth it. I like it that it locks automatically every time that I lock the cab. BTW, I have a lockable bed cover so now my cargo and tailgate are secure when Pop & Lock engages automatically.

Good product ... and wonderful tech support. Read other reviews and watch U-Tube installs for ,any great/better install ideas
I purchased this for my 2014 Tacoma and carefully read the reviews and also watched the u-tube videos. It took me about and hour to install and did not work initially. Here are some thoughts for the Tacoma. First, there is a wire grommet under the seats that is really easy to use (do not try to run it to the engine compartment). Second, some videos show drilling a hole in the bottom of the tailgate as the connectors are too large (they are). Drilling was difficult (wished I had not done it but there are suggestions of other ways (following the camera wire) which I wish I had thought of. Third .... it initially did not work and I went to tech support at PopnLock. It took a bit for them to get back to me but it was my own fault and the crimp connectors in the door pillar really have to be mashed down. Also, the wires you are looking for are the wire bundle going into the door (obviously to run to the lock in the door) and it is behind a white plastic guard in the B Pillar. Works great and although the Tech Support Team took a bit to get back to me by email, they went out of their way to help. That alone means alot these days. OH, one last thing .... make sure this thing works before you close up the tailgate. If you have a tonneau cover and it locks AMD the tailgate is locked and not operational .... you have a HUGE problem (yup ... almost happened to me)

Great lock for your tailgate
I have a 2014 Toyota Tacoma 4X4 V6 Access Cab with the TRD Off Road package which includes the backup camera in the tailgate handle. This work great. There is a but however. They do not advise or include a lock washer or blue loctite. However there is only one mounting point, which is fine because when tight it braces itself on the sheet metal and the handle itself so more than 1 mount point are not needed. If you do not loctite it or use a lockwasher I can definitely see this working its way lose and becoming ineffective. I used a M6 split lock washer from the local hardware store for that bolt and tightened it down pretty good (be careful though as it is going to a plastic tailgate handle).I am slightly OCD so it took me about an hour and a half, however I could see it taking a regular person less than a half hour. You undo the tailgate bolts, pull the cover off, install the device, then run cables. I ran my cables through the camera wiring harness hole in the tailgate then body of the truck and then wire tied it to that harness until I got underneath the passenger seat. If you are under the truck looking at the passenger side frame rail on the side of the frame rail towards the outside of the rail you will see a gromit with nothing in it. I pulled it off and put a hole in it and ran my cable through that, then ran it up to where the wiring harness that goes to the passenger side door is and used the blue with red stripe and blue with black stripe wires. I had the wrong polarity after tapping it so I swapped the pins in the back.Works like a champ however it is loud. I think thats reassuring though, so I don't care.

Love the product
Bought this item due to popnlock tailgate key started to seized and unable to unlock with the key. Fou d this product with connects to power door locks and it works awesome. It was easy to install on my 2011 tacoma. It works great and don’t have to worry about the tail gate key being seized.

Works great, install is easy, but not with their instructions.
Everything was great except the instruction, search it up on YouTube for excellent step by steps. You will also want to buy some split loom as it is not included and if you go off pavement the cable they provide will not hold up to dirt and gravel roads.

Easy install, works as advertised
Replaced the old tailgate pop lock in my 08 tacoma with this one, works just as well. Slightly different design than the old one, and is slightly louder, but it feels more solid.
