I've been using Yerba Prima Fiber for over 35 years with great results.
I've used this product (Yerba Prima Veg Capsules) as well as Yerba Prima Psyllium Husks , 180 Capsules (regular capsules), and Yerba Prima Psyllium Whole Husks, 12-Ounce (loose powder) for many years. It cured my IBS, keeps me regular, and has also helped me loose weight. I've tried other brands but I always come back to Yerba Prima. The difference is in quality and “content”. Yerba Prima is of highest quality in my opinion. I’ve never found “foreign” objects in Yerba Prima Psyllium but I have found them in other brands (tiny unidentified black or brown objects). What I mean by content is that Yerba Prima uses the most useful part of the psyllium plant (the seed) while I’m not so sure with other brands because other brands don’t seem to work as well for me. I’ve come to conclude those other brands may be using other, less beneficial parts of the plant, like the stems, as filler. For those who want to know more I include details about my experience using Yerba Prima Psyllium Husks and information about its benefits below. ~ ~ ~ The following information about the benefits and use of psyllium husks is my opinion based on my experiences as well as information given to me by my doctors. I am not a medical professional so please be sure to check with your own doctor.... I recommend the loose powder over all (contains whole husks, not finely ground) for best results, but I also need the convenience of a capsule (more finely ground) from time to time, when I travel or when I don’t have orange juice on hand (the best way to take loose powder), which is why I always keep Yerba Prima capsules on hand. There is no difference in performance between this product (veg capsules) and Yerba Prima regular capsules. The only difference is that the veg capsules are not made from animal products. Regular capsules are usually made from gelatin, made from collagen extracted from animal connective tissue. It is mostly from bones and skin of cattle, and pigs. Since I’m now a vegetarian I’m thankful Yerba Prima makes vegetarian capsules, made from vegetable cellulose. Why Psyllium Husks Are Good For You: > Helps make you regular (with regular use). > Helps end IBS caused by unhealthy low fiber diet. > May end constipation with regular use. > May end chronic diarrhea with regular use. > Has been shown to help lower cholesterol. > The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has found the intake of psyllium seed husks can cause a decreased risk of coronary heart disease (CHD). > Has been shown to help ward off type 2 diabetes or in some cases reverse it (no proof as of yet, studies still being done). > Great source of soluble dietary fiber – something your body needs to be healthy > Reduces bloating and gas (after you’ve found the best dosage for you, see below). > Can help reduce risk of colon cancer. It is fact that a high fiber diet reduces your chances of getting colon cancer, and psyllium husks is the best way to do that if you can’t get enough fiber by the foods you eat. > Can make you feel full and loose weight. If taken before a meal you will most likely eat a lot less. There are many products on the market that are sold for this reason but taking psyllium for this purpose is not just a way to loose weight, but is good for you too and usually is cheaper than those other so-called weight loss products. I've been using Yerba Prima Psyllium Husks for over 35 years. I first started using it on advice of a doctor after having lifelong trouble with IBS, constipation, and bloating (ever since I was a child). I also found it helped me to feel full which helps me to eat less, resulting in weight loss. While it does take some time to get use to (adding any fiber to the diet takes getting use to), once your body is use to it the health benefits are great and your body functions as it should. I assure you the health benefits you get from taking psyllium husks greatly outweighs the annoyance of getting use to it at first. GETTING USE TO A HIGH FIBER DIET: One of the reasons many people don’t eat a lot of fibrous foods or take fiber supplements is due to stories they’ve heard about bloating and gas, or they’ve tried it themselves and experienced bloating and gas. But what they don’t realize is your body needs time to get use to taking fiber supplements because most people don’t get nearly enough fiber normally. Yes, when you first start taking a fiber supplement you can experience some bloating and gas, but if you take a small amount at first this will be greatly reduced. Then, after a while your body will be use to the fiber and the bloating and gas will stop, at which time you can increase the amount you take just a little, then wait for your body to get use to that, then increase it again, and so on until you’re taking the recommended amount of fiber that gives your body the best health benefits. The introduction phase is well worth the health benefits you get once you’re use to taking fiber. BEST WAYS TO TAKE PSYLLIUM: If you’re taking psyllium capsules you need to take it with a lot of water, to make sure it comes in contact with enough liquid to bulk up properly in your stomach. You also need to make sure it doesn’t get “stuck” in your throat. This is rare, but it has happened, and once the capsule starts to dissolve it bulks up and that’s what can cause problems – if it bulks up while in your throat instead of in your stomach. The recommended dosage is 6 capsules 1 to 3 times a day. For beginners I recommend starting with 3 once a day for a week, then increase that to 3 capsules twice a day for a week, then 3 capsules three times a day for a week, then double it to 6 capsules once you’re use to it. If you’re taking loose powder I’ve found it’s best to mix it with orange juice, shake well and drink it quickly, followed by at least 8-10 ounces of water to make sure it all gets washed down into your stomach. It tastes best in OJ because the psyllium powder taste is masked and it seems much like orange juice pulp as it goes down. My doctor recommends 1-2 rounded teaspoons 1 to 3 times per day. I started with one teaspoon once a day, then increased it to twice a day, then doubled it (two teaspoons twice a day). I’ve been taking 2 teaspoons 2 or 3 times a day (or the equivalent in capsules) for over 35 years and swear by it now.

I absolutely love this fiber and i will buy this product forever. This product helped me be more regular and which ultimately helped to improve my skin. It took 3 months to make a difference and I'm using it for almost 2 year. Be patient you will see the result.

Probably doesn’t work as well as the whole husk, but much easier than mixing and drinking gritty psyllium. Take them as your eating a meal and it’ll work well for you!

Not even closely working compared to previous shipment received
These are not working equal to the previous ones I purchased 4 months earlier and I making sure to take properly drinking a lot of water. I am very disappointed and now seeking alternatives.
