Devil's Infirmary

I'm a bit surprised I enjoyed this book as much as I did. I didn't know anything about the book, or mangaka when I preordered it; so, I didn't know it is set in a school. I don't usually like school-based yaoi because it limits the characters so much: high schooolers (errr, college) with limited experience, surrounded by the same. However, this setting actually is believable as medical school/college, especially since the seme, Asakura, is the doctor in charge of the infirmary, and not the usual teacher or upperclassman. The story begins when Higurashi walks in on Asakura receiving some intimate attention from another student. Before he can rush out to gossip about it, Asakura reveals some embarrassing information he has on Higurashi - Mexican standoff! Asakura proceeds to pursue his reluctant uke, and the sparks fly from there.The couple is very likeable, and the mangaka throws an obstacle in their way when Higurashi's friend asks him to pose as a boyfriend to avoid the unwanted attentions of an upperclassman. Also, I loved the character of Asakura's mother. She added a lot of humor, especially her interest in her son's love life because she reads gay romance! This is hard yaoi - the sex is explicit, and there is a scene of near-rape that could bother readers sensitive to that. Overall, an excellent title and I hope to read more from this mangaka.

I'm surprised I enjoyed this as much as I did! The cover seemed to indicate noncon situations to me, but thankfully that did not hold true. When I read the manga, it was way better than I thought. The story flowed well, and the couple really was cute together. The artwork is awesome overall and its Good Stuff.

This was amazing. Came in perfect condition and the scenes were very lewd. The doctor really dirty talked throughout the also very good story line. Over all I would suggest supporting this author :)

i loved it!!! the caracters are nice and the story is quite funnythe first story is typical with a doctor and his studentthe second one is a bit crazy with a secret land, an awesome prince and a japanese virgin ;-)

Cute and pretty standard for a yaoi manga. I also enjoyed the extra story Lover from a Secret Land. It is a fairly cookie cutter teacher/student yaoi but it's a classic for a reason & I enjoyed it a lot.

The story was friggin' adorable and made me laugh. If you're looking for a comedy romance then this is the story for you

Higurashi is your average student in an older boys school, which of course means that there's yaoi action here! He catches the eye of Asakura, the school doctor, and before you know it (And you know that it's coming, right?) he's under the doctor and discovering new things about himself that he never wanted to know. Of course, debates and denials ensure, and Higurashi eventually realizes just how much he loves Asakura and everything gets sorted out. There's some cute content, and some hard-edged content, and the sex is fairly explicit. The two leads are very cute together, and the story good enough that I've read it a couple of times now. I really like this book, and I'm glad that I bought it.

Dieser Manga enthält zwei Storys.In der ersten längeren Titelstory überrascht der Oberschüler Higurashi den charismatischen Schularzt Asakura als jener sich gerade von einem Mann mit dem Mund befriedigen lässt. Nur zu gern würde Higurashi diese brisante Neuigkeit überall in der Schule herumerzählen, um Asukara, den er nicht ausstehen kann, öffentlich bloßzustellen.Zu dumm nur, dass Asukara seinerseits ein Druckmittel in Form eines delikaten Schnappschusses in der Hand hält, um dafür zu sorgen, dass Higurashi den Mund hält.Doch diese Patt Situation genügt Asakura nicht, da er schon seit längerem ein Auge auf Higurashi geworfen hat.Die zweite Story heisst Lover from a secret Land handelt von einem japanischem Oberschüler, der sich während eines Urlaubs versehentlich in ein unbekanntes Land verirrt, das auf keiner Karte steht und dessen Gesetze vorschreiben, Fremde zu töten um zu verhindern, dass sie anderen von der Existenz dieses Landes berichten können.Doch zum Glück für den jungen Fremdling verliebt der Herrscher jenes Reiches sich auf den ersten Blick unsterblich in ihn und beschliesst, ihn stattdessen zu seiner Konkubine zu machen.Meine Meinung:Die Titelstory bedient zwar jede Menge typischer BL-Klischees, aber diese werden so humorvoll und erotisch umgesetzt, dass sie einfach nur richtig Spaß macht.Asakura ist ein dominanter Seme, der genau weiß was bzw. wen er haben will und wie er es bzw. ihn bekommt. Da mag Higurashi sich anfangs auch noch so gegen die Vorstellung sträuben a) mit einem Mann und b) ausgerechnet mit diesem Mann Sex zu haben. Gegen die ebenso hartnäckige wie leidenschaftliche Dominanz mit welcher Asukara ihn von der Sache überzeugt, kann er nicht viel ausrichten.Anfänglich bewegt die Beziehung sich im Graubereich zu non-con. Der Sex an sich geschieht zwar letzlich einvernehmlich, da Higurashi den Verführungskünsten Akusaras erliegt. Doch die Möglichkeit, Higurashi überhaupt in eine Situation zu bringen, in welcher er ihn durch Körpereinsatz verführen kann, bietet sich Akusara anfangs nur dank seines Druckmittels.Im späteren Verlauf gibt es non-con, das nicht mehr Graubereich ist, jedoch nicht von Akusara ausgeht.Die Yaoi Szenen sind sehr explizit und unzensiert.Die zweite Story hat eine originelle Grundidee und ein schönes exotisches Setting. Zudem enthält ebenfalls jede Menge Humor und einiges an Yaoi, das hier jedoch etwas weniger explizit ist als in der ersten Story.Die Zeichnungen sind sanft, jedoch nicht zu verspielt. Ihre Protagonisten haben zwar zartere Gesichtszüge, sehen jedoch trotzdem nicht wie Mädchen aus. Hintergründe gibt es wenige, der Fokus liegt auf den agierenden Personen.Fazit:Mir hat Devi'l Infirmary sehr gut gefallen. Er bietet genau die richtige Mischung aus Humor, Handlung und Sex sowie genau die Art von charismatisch-dominantem Seme, die ich persönlich besonders schätze.Wer Probleme mit non-con im Graubereich hat und/oder sich gewisse Körperteile und Flüssigkeiten lieber denkt als sie zu sehen, sollte zu einem anderen Manga greifen.Allen anderen kann ich diesen Yaoi Titel nur wärmstens empfehlen.

Normally I buy a book based on the cover and find out it's not really as sexy as I thought. This one is exactly as sexy as I thought it would be. It's funny, with bit of blackmail, a lot of hot scenes, and eventually the expected "I've fallen in love with you too" conclusion. Glad I bought it.

I really like this author, she really builds her characters, at times I laughed, it was a really good read, couldn't put it down.

Love it awesome i keep re-reading it one of my favourite yaoi would deffo buy again and a good price aswell xxxxx
