Just screw it onto the door frame or it will fly off when you least expect it and smack you in the face.

Not as easy as it looks
The body of the closer needs to be screwed to the frame. Don't rely on the sticky pad. The hook is designed to stick on the door but, frankly, is only good to experiment with to get the closer in the right place. It is tricky to get the closer into a position where the "pull" is sufficient to close the door (a light composite interior door), but is not too much of an eyesore. To get enough pull I had to put the closer body on the top door frame about one third of the way along. Consequently, the wire is pretty obvious. I then had to replace the useless 'sticky' hook with one I could screw into the door.It's cheap and seems to work OK once you make the changes.

Good and worth it to prevent mould and provide air circulation
I don’t like the support but the item is somewhat sturdy.
