6 Month Update (Still Great)

The media could not be loaded. 6 Month Update:This is my 3rd update (see below for previous comments). After 6 months of daily use, the grinder is still performing well. I've been cleaning the burr approximately once a month. I ended up just leaving the bellow attached to the hopper since I use it to clear grinds after every use. I have now experienced some minor static but I chalk that up to the winter weather in my area. I need to stress that what I've noted are very minimal remnants adhering to the side of the glass bowl I use to collect grounds and I see zero issues within the grinder itself. I've also (temporarily) been using excessively oily beans without issue. Grind consistency and quantity remain reliable. I am still very happy with this purchase. I withheld 1-Star from my earlier ratings because I wanted to ensure the unit was durable; after 6 months of daily use I'm going to award the 5th-Star as I believe the grinder is sufficiently reliable and well-made. I 100% recommend this grinder. If and when this unit disappoints or fails I will update further.3 Month Update:This is my 2nd update of my review (see below for previous comments). I've now owned this grinder for 3 months and figured it was appropriate to provide a brief update. Bottom line up front--no issues at all. I use the grinder multiple times a day to use with my Aeropress. As noted in my video and subsequent comments, I require a very specific measurement (i.e. 'dose') of grinds--specifically 11 grams of very fine grounds per serving. This grinder delivers a consistent dose every single time. I see a lot of comments in reviews regarding static (an issue that seems to plague quite a lot of grinders). I am not disregarding other reviewer's comments about their issues with static from this unit, but I have to note that I have not had a single problem with static. I honestly think any static issues that people are having derive from the plastic grinds bin (which I never use). As my video shows, I use a small glass bowl instead and I've found that not only does it negate all static issues, it is also far easier to use (at least for my purpose). But that's it--after 3 months of owning this grinder, I remain 100% satisfied with the purchase. I'll update again after 6 months and revise my rating up or down as appropriate at that time.1 Month Update:I'm one of the first people to order this from Amazon--it had only 4 reviews (all sponsored/Vine) when I received mine. I'm in no way sponsored and I paid for this item myself. That said, I do want to expand on my original written review as I've had the grinder for a month now. I'm still extremely satisfied with this item. Not only does it grind very well, but it truly allowed me to dial-in my grind to give me a consistent result each and every time. As my video shows, I use an Aeropress. I prefer a fairly fine grind and I use 10 or 11 grams for each serving. This grinder provides a nearly flawless experience--I set my grind coarseness and set the grinder for 14 seconds and it gives me 10 grams literally each time. I know because I've used a digital scale to verify. Not every user will require such a precise, consistent dose--but those who do will really appreciate how well this thing works.A couple of other notes that I touch on in the video but don't elaborate on--although this grinder doesn't claim to be 100% anti-static, it pretty much has been for me. My previous grinder had so much static I had to brush out the bin after each grind. Now I do use a glass cup (as pictured in my video) with this thing--but I've never had grinds cling whatsoever. I mislabeled the "bellow" as a "grommet" in my video. Regardless, it works very well. I don't really have any issues that rise to the level of a "complaint" with this device, however there are a couple of areas for improvement. Specifically, the lid to the hopper is not air-tight. Also, I wish the bellow could be fully integrated into an air-tight lid. But these are extremely minor points and in no way detract from the unit. I will leave my 4-star rating for at least 6 months and then update my review accordingly.Original Review:Not much to say that my video doesn't address. I'm withholding 1 star only because I don't know if this grinder will last. I'll bump it up to 5 stars after owning for at least 6 months IF I feel it is still performing well.

What a Pleasant Surprise for the Price! (UPDATE: Outstanding Customer Support!)

I asked my old, trusty but frugal grinder that I used for cold brew and pour over to do espresso grind, which it did serviceably for several months. However, it was at its finest setting, and now due to wear, can't grind as find as I need and my recent pulls frankly, sucked.I'm still faring-in my espresso pulls, so while waiting for the Baratza I have my eyes on to go on sale (it's a pretty $$$), I purchased this SHARDOR to make sure and rule out that the grind was throwing my pulls off. This was my use case for this grinder.Instead of using it for testing a fine grind, I may be keeping this little grinder for the long haul - it's very good for the price. First off, it's quieter than expected: instead of the loud, coarse and low-pitched sound I was expecting from a "cheaper" grinder, the sound the SHARDOR gave was a quiet, high-pitched precision grind sound. The touch screen is simple and very easy to use (you need to get used to moving it on the sides, though - you'll start a grind if you try moving it with a hand over the front panel :-) ). And the grind is plenty fine and consistent, and the timer accurate enough for my needs.Another nice surprise is that the bean hopper is removable - covering up the bottom hole when it's removed (see picture). I'm not an expert on grinders (yet), but it appears there may be some adjustability (maybe replacement?) of the burrs, which if the case - makes this grinder a full-on "keeper".The only thing I do regret is not spending a little bit more for the SHARDOR grinder with the portafilter holder - it would be well worth the money on the time savings in workflow alone. But for what it is, and what it costs - this SHARDOR grinder was definitely a pleasant surprise!UPDATE: After twice or 3x daily grinding - this little grinder gave up the ghost after almost 7 months of ownership. Pressing the grind button would have the timer count down, make a small "click", and do nothing else. Probably the motor petered out. Emailing SHARDOR customer service, I received an email response within 24 hours asking for me to confirm my mailing address. 24 hours from that, got a shipping notification - and 48 hours later - brand new grinder. Only time will tell on the longevity of this unit (trust me, it'll be put back to good use!), but with SHARDOR's customer support - if this one by chance gives up the ghost, I'll rest assured SHARDOR will honor the warranty. If it's past warranty, I'll spring for their grinder with an integrated portafilter holder. :-)

Reliable, consistent grind

This grinder works well and gives a consistent grind according to the setting. Its relatively quiet for a grinder. There are no issues with clogging but it comes with a handy plunger type attachment to force air through and blow out any stuck grounds. The amount of grounds I get at a given tike setting has been inconsistent and that is my only complaint. Some of the beans seem to get stuck in the hopper and I have to tap it. Because if this, I still have to measure each pot with scoops. No big deal, but I had a grinder years ago that gave the same amount every time so I could just dump it in. I have used it to grind an entire pound at one time and there was no issue with overheating or anything. The canister seems to resist static and grinds sticking to edges well. Getting consistent grind size is important to coffee taste so, overall, Ive been pleased with this grinder.
