Can not buy food
You can not buy food or water for the poor pup. It says you can in the instructions, but in the game, it doesn't give you that option.

Nice graphics, great idea, but frustrating voice recognition.
My 7-year-old daughter played that game just for a couple of hours. The graphics are very cute. The entire idea of raising little dogs, teaching them tricks and taking care about them in general is very educational, but the voice recognition part of the game has plenty of cracks and problems. My daughter spent over 25 minutes just to name the dog, b/c the AI chip was not able to recognize the repeated words. Same problems with commands and tricks. We checked the game against her friends who came for pay-date to play the games, and had roughly the same problem. My daughter stopped playing the game after few futile days. i just hope she goes back to the game one day. Otherwise the money has been wasted.

Cute game but gets monotonous
This is a very cute game and it was fun while it lasted but I do NOT like the fact that you essentially have to play the game every single day in order to "take care" of your puppy. It's a game. That shouldn't be the case. I know it is meant to mimic real life on certain levels but it's annoying and boring fast because there is nothing to make the game interesting or engaging after the same monotony over and over again. I'm an adult and it tried my patience so I don't know how a child would do with the same thing over and over again and nothing to really keep them engaged. It's cute but...not that great at the end of the day.

Worth buying a DS alone
I was skeptical at first, but those puppies are just too cute. However, if that was the only thing going for the game, I wouldn't have bought it. I tried it out first and was also amazed at how the stylus and microphone were used so well. This game was built for the DS, and it seems as though the DS was built for it. I talk to my puppy every day, (and he understands!), pet it, and play with it. I can't wait until Nintendo WiFi so I can play with my friends at home. If you can't afford a real puppy, (such as myself) then this is perfect for you. This is the reason I got a DS.

Great Game!
This game is perfect for people who like animals (namely dogs) because you get a feel for what it's like owning a pet, without actually owning one. You have to walk them, bathe them, feed them, and pick up after them when they relieve themselves. It's also alot of fun to play because it's generally an all around, cute and fun game. I feel like any parent who has children who want a dog could get their kids this game to show them the responsibility of being a pet owner because it covers many aspects in a way that would be child friendly.

For the childhood memories
Got this to calm my nostalgia and ended up with the jackpot of used games. Everything was unlocked and the money on the account was maxed out. Crazy stuff, maybe I just got lucky. Regardless 10/10.

Nintendogs Chihuahua & Friends
Having owned the Dachshund & Friends, Nintendogs has always been at the top of my list for all-time favourite DS games.I just love collecting different breeds and colours of dogs, it's incredibly fun the way they have different personalities and the fact you get an opportunity to name them (a name of up to seven characters). If anyone's wondering about the six breeds in the kennel for Chihuahua & Friends, here it is so you won't have to go to the effort of trying to find them on the internet:ChihuahuaYorkshire TerrierCavalier K.C. SpanielShetland SheepdogBoxerGerman Shepherd DogNintendogs as a game has so many different fun features; you can care for your dog, dress him/her up, play with them, teach them tricks, take them for a walk, enter them in competitions and go on Bark Mode with friends. Everything about the game I love, if anyone's considering purchasing Nintendogs and hasn't yet, I seriously recommend buying, you won't regret it!

Nintendogs Chihuahua
I bought this for my 5 yr old daughter who has recently been given a DS lite, this is the first thing she has ever owned that has captured her imagination day after day. For that reason alone it is worth the money. She has great fun buying new dogs, and caring for them by grooming, feeding, and walking them. She has not got the hang of teaching them commands yet but that does not affect her enjoyment. Even better is the fact that I bought a different Nintendogs version for my DS lite, as they link together via Bark Mode, meaning your dogs can meet up and play together. This does result in my ending up giving her lots of gifts during Bark Mode which she thinks is great. It is easy to use even for a pre-reading child, she always comes to me to ask which gift she has found as she cannot yet read the words, but again this does not spoil her gameplay. All in all the best thing I have bought her this year. We will definately be upgrading to 3DS version when she is old enough (as 3DS cannot be used by under 7's).

Brilliant
So happy to get this, I had an original back in the day. Great having used one as there were great things stored on the game, but Iβm able to get new dogs from beginning. So glad I bought this.

Frustrating
Frustrating as the voice activated part of this game struggles to understand my child despite her speaking clearly. Otherwise the other parts of the game are fun although they didn't keep my child interested for too long before she moved on to Cooking Mama and Mario.
