Sorry I'm new to this. Why do you need a smartphone / device for when using this ??

You can Bluetooth your device to it. In other words, your music playing on your Android, iPhone, and Ipad will play out of the speakers. While singing you will hear your voice along with the music. My daughter loves it. If you decide not to connect the microphone will still work.

I just connect with YouTube and find karaoke version. It’s fun 😀
