love it
This is an absolutely beautiful book, with gold-edge pages, a silky book-mark, and a handsome cover. Weighing in at over 700 pages, It contains some very familiar stories, such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding-Hood, Snow White & Rapunzel, & others less so. The illustrations are a combination of black-and-white line drawings, and full colour ones. The colour ones remind me of Tarot card illustrations. Some of the pictures may be a little too creepy for very small children, but on the whole this is a beautiful volume, and great for book-collectors.

A treasure!
As someone that is a big fan of fairy tales, I was really curious about the origins of them and stumbled upon the Brothers' Grimm (or Grimm Brothers). I instantly took to these stories like a duck to water, loving the darkness of these tales as opposed to Disney (which I'm also a huge fanatic of) where all the tales end "Happily Ever After". Some of the stories in this collection I'm familiar with such as Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Snow-White and Rose-Red, Hansel and Gretel, The Goose Girl, Rumpelstiltskin, (as my mum bought me an original fairy tales book as a child), there are many I've never came across and so I love this book. The cover in itself is absolutely beautiful and enticed me to purchase it in the first place. The gilt gold lettering and the gold edged pages, teamed with the image on the front of a princess sleeping as well as the deep blue hue makes it an absolute treasure. I also love how there is a ribbon bookmark,(also gold), attached to the book which I like as this book is too precious to be dog eared. It's also worth the money as it was reduced when I purchased it. It was originally around £30, I think. I purchased it for around £15/£16 which is half price. So really happy! I advise you add this to your collection if you haven't already!

Magical! Brings back so many good memories from my childhood.
The cover is beautiful with sparkle and very well made. It just feels magical. I was so excited when it arrived and I was definitely not disappointed. I bought it to read with my 4 year old but I must admit most of the tales are a bit too gruesome for her. This doesn't mean we can't enjoy this beautiful book together. I read her some of the stories that's not too bad. This is the type of book that can stay in the family for years to come. I will definitely recommend this book.

Beautiful in every sense
The book itself is a feast for the senses, the beautiful leather cover with high gloss inlaid picture surrounded by two tone gold on blue, totally beautiful, I bought the book as I have a younger child who loves to be read to, but also because I am mildly dyslexic and I am trying to improve my reading abilities, it is early days still and I am struggling a little, but my reasons for reading this book are worth the effort and the beauty of the book itself is worth the excellent price I bought it for, but keeping these stories before they get a Disney style makeover is far more important.

A 'pretty' book for the shelf but not a great format for young readers.
The media could not be loaded. Glad to have the original text in a sturdy hardback edition and it looks good on the shelf so would buy more of the Barnes & Noble Leatherbound Classic Collection. Some of the stories feature in the year 6 syllabus for my 11 year old daughter. She is studying in Portugal so will not only have a watered down/Disney-fied version but also have been translated into Portugese so wanted her to have an original version in English.Although being an easily distracted person in the first instance, this text will not be easy to digest for her... so I will also seek out a text with more artwork and a larger print.

Beautiful book of the entire Grimm’s fairytale collection
This is the second B&N leather bound book I’ve bought (the first was Norse mythology, as a gift). These books are beautiful, amazing quality, and feel much more expensive than they are. They are timeless in both look and content, and should last a lifetime on the bookshelf. This is the complete Grimm’s collection, and I’ve loved reading the tales so far (there are a lot!). It will be great to read with older children, though as many of the tales are dark, some might not be suitable for younger children.

Lots and lots and lots of tales
I had a copy of this as a child but what attracted me to this edition is the fact that the illustrations are by Arthur Rackham. This book was a present for my wife. Both of us are John Connolly fans and in his Charlie Parker series, the 1908 edition as illustrated by Rackham feature in a few of his books. Grimm's fairy tales are almost as scary as Connolly's books. I can recommend both!

A beautiful book to treasure
This is such a beautiful book. The pages are very fine (in a good way) and are edged with gold so that when the book is shut it glistens. It is a book to treasure and my 10 and 7 year olds both love me reading to them from it. My 10 year old also reads it by himself. The internal bookmark is a nice touch. The stories are indeed 'grim(m)' so may have to be carefully chosen for the younger reader but my boys adore them and it is a useful starting point to discuss different versions of the tales. It is great to have a mixture of well-known and lesser-known tales.
