Leaks, does not self close completely.
Bought this self closing valve for an outdoor shower next to the pool. Great description and design, but it will not close 100%. It leaks. Too late to return, because I purchased it in December 2024……along with other project parts along the way. Custom galvanized pipe configuration connecting to water supply, welding required for the pipe mount, etc. Check photo. Just finished installing yesterday, February 25…..and it’s not shutting off after first test. Fast drip of about 12 fluid oz per minute. Seriously disappointed. DON'T BUY

Performs as expected
Perfect for outdoor shower rinse off. Suggest they supply longer chain.

It’s a directional flow valve so check on install and also check the side nut for proper tension
Edit as of 1/27/2026. New one arrived. In the interim I asked my buddy a licensed GC to take a look at my work and the valve before new install. As it turns out, I didn’t know as much as I thought I did. These valves are directional. The water must flow in one side only to allow the particular valve mechanism inside to shut/stay closed and work properly. I had it in backwards. User error. That said, once installed correctly it still leaked. It took a few turns of the special nut under the cover to tighten and loosen it to the sweet spot where once the lever was pulled and released, it did its job and closed. So, we used the original one and returned the new unused replacement under the return agreement. We also added an extra valve lower on the wall near the source to cut it off for good if it fails again. Makes for an easier repair instead of shutting the main. Original review: Arrived quickly, new in box. Installed. Leaked immediately. Nothing stopped the flow. Valve does not shut properly as intended. Applied for a return replacement today. Bought extra parts at ACE to add a fully closing valve before this one for outdoor pool shower. When replacement arrives I can now ensure no water waste. Hoping new one doesn’t leak but will be prepared if it does.

Excellent Quality
I bought two of these valves. As a Mechanic and Machinist for years, I can tell you these valves are well designed and built solid. I tested them for ease of operation and leak checked. They are awesome! If you plan to use these in a rental property or a public place, I have a couple of suggestions. 1. Consider tightening the main valve assembly together just a bit tighter. This is the place you would disassemble the valve to rebuild it. Put a big Crescent wrench on the section of the valve that has the six wrench flats and tighten clockwise. Mine was loose enough that if you operated the valve counterclockwise to the stop with a bit of force, the valve assembly would come loose...not good for renters so snug it up. 2. There is a knurled cap nut on the handle that can be loosened by hand. If this comes off, a small pin will fall out of a castle nut and the valve will eventually come apart. I used blue Loctite on the threads and snugged it down with players. When you take off the cap nut, don’t be tempted to further tighten the castle nut, just leave it where it is. When the valve is closed and off, it’s normal to have a little looseness or slight wobble of the handle. This is necessary for the valve to fully close. These valves are excellent!

As expected
The valve looks just as I expected. The crome plating looks good and the metal used is heavy. I would recommended it.

beware the rusty rings.....
Quality is good, and it works well, BUT be aware that the split rings on either end of the chain are not stainless steel (why, for goodness sake???) and rust very quickly.
