This is my long lost tea!
This tea is wonderful and a great price. It tastes just like I remember. I used to drink this tea 30 years ago when it as sold as wild ginseng. After I could no longer find the brand I was buying, I tried other ginseng teas only to be dissapointed. This is what I have been looking for! It's relaxing without making me tired and gives an overall feeling of wellness. I like that it doesn't contain caffeine. Just perfect!

good herbal medicinal tea
Herbal tea imported from Fujian province China. Each bag containing 2 g. of the tea, no stems in the bags. Taste is very good with a little sweetness, doesn't get bitter. I don't feel I receiving a huge amount of energy but I noticed that I have it for all the day now. Previously I used to feel tired after 9 pm. I feel myself more relaxed in the days I take a tea: no worried, no bustle. Feeling as after good massage. I noticed that neck and knee pain reduced. In some days I don't feel it at all. I don't lost a weight but I lost a water. In the tea-day I go to the restroom more often than usually. What I also noticed: I have a heart problem and if I take this tea more than 4 consecutive days - it's difficult for my heart, maybe reason in the lost of water. Just be attention to yourself if you have some health problem. I start to take the tea with interruption and I feel better now. I can walking for more long time now (can't to do it previously). I want to say - It's a good tea. I take it for a 3 weeks and I notice my health improvement. But it's not just a tea but a herb with lot of medical ability. I recommending Gynostemma Tea for everybody but watch your feeling. Wish all of you stay healthy for a long time!

Fun like green tea
Gynostemia (this is the Latin name, the regular name is "Jiaogulan") in short, taste rather similar to a simple green tea. This could also be mistaken for green tea if someone did not know the wiser. The specific flavour is like a very light green tea when you first sip it, then feels in a sense "stronger" as you swallow it. It has a bit more of a plant taste, not really "earthy" but "leafy" in contrast to the "grassy" flavours of green tea. While I have only had this tea as hot, if you wished to use it for iced tea, I do not see any problems doing so. The colour of Jiaogulan is that earthy yellow-green like that of green tea. In the box, there is a sealed plastic bag that contains all of the individual teabags, since each teabag folder is made from paper. I am pleased that the teabags themselves are staple-free (absent of any metal clips), allowing this is be a more environmentally friendly teabag and also recyclable. While this specific box of Jiaogulan tea may cost a bit more than others that are available here on the Amazon, the quantity count helps to overwrite cost factors. If there are questions regarding this tea, there is actually a California telephone number to call, 510-444-0936, which I find beneficial within itself. =) While I find this to be an excellent tea, I do not find this type of tea to be something that I could drink each 24 hours of the day. I like this tea nonetheless, but I see it as more of a speciality tea for a few times each day- so not really a tea for constantly guzzling like some people do throughout the day with coffee.

Surprisingly Sweet
I have been buying the teabags for years both here and in Chinatown in downtown LA. Recently ordered the loose tea and can totally recommend. The bag is hefty and the leaves are whole, smell fresh, and brew up nicely. I have attached pics of the loose leaf version to this review. ORIGINAL REVIEW for the teabag version: I worried this tea would be bitter. I was looking for an affordable alternative to Longevity Tea, and figured I'd just add some luo han guo for sweetness, but I don't have to. True, it does have a grassy/mildly bitter undertone, but a sweet finish. A dash of lemon juice added is tasty too. PS. Avoid mutilating the box like I did -- it seems to open only from the side flap [front flap is glued shut].

Excellent
I have tried several varieties of jiao gu lan, and, as far as teas go, this is my favorite. I even like it better than the beautiful, dark green bulk jiao gu lan, as it feels stronger to me. I have also bought the powdered gynostemma from [...] and taken that by the teaspoonful or in coffee, and found that to actually be the best, although this tea runs neck and neck with that. I have tried gynostemma powder from several sources, but found the only one that made me understand why people like gynostemma for stamina, etc., is the product from [...] But be aware, if you decide to try herbalcom, that their website is not fancy, to say the least, and they don't respond to emails or phone calls. And they aren't super fast shippers. I have purchased a LOT of herbs from them over the last few years, including hundreds of dollars in a single purchase, and have always received everything I have ordered, and the quality is one of the best. And they are cheap, with flat rate shipping. But this is about jiao gu lan tea--so my verdict on this tea is that it is well worth it, and is excellent quality, even though the contents of the tea bags is straw-colored, and not the vibrant green of the bulk gynostemma I have also purchased.
