Q: I am only getting speeds of 100mbps. I've used a top quality crimper and plugs. Should be getting 500. Any ideas?

Check the wiring on your RJ 45 plugs and sockets and ensure that it is the same at each end as it is easy to mix them up. Cat 6 cable is capable of gigabit speeds and can be wired to T568A or T568B standards, the preference is yours as long as it is the same both ends and in the sockets as well. In each version the green and orange wires are reversed. Make sure its not wired as a cross over cable either. If all thats ok, check the link speed of the LAN adaptor in your PC / Mac / linux and ensure the right drivers are installed and see what speed the link is negotiating at, it should be 1Gb/s now.

Q: What is the diameter of this cable?

I use 7 mm cable clips to hold this tight so it’s approximately 7 mm diameter Hope this helps 👍
