Pricey but worth it
Its kind of like having NS10s really flat monitors in front of you except even better sounding. Crystal clear, mid forward sound signature. These do not have the "incredible bass and high end" sound signature that comes with consumer high quality headphones (Bose, Beats, etc). However, they still sound VERY good and if you mix on these and make your mix sound good, it will translate excelent to other listening devices. Buy these if you want to mix, edit, master your music or content without an acoustically treated room and studio speakers. Note: the headband is a little bit fatiguing after a few hours. Im bald though so maybe thats not an issue for everyone.

Excellent
I recently purchased the Neumann NDH 30 headphones and I am extremely satisfied with this product. The sound quality is exceptional, with clear highs, detailed mids, and deep bass that provides a well-balanced listening experience. The build quality is superb, with a sturdy and comfortable design that is perfect for long listening sessions. These headphones deliver professional-grade audio performance, making them ideal for both casual listening and critical audio work. If you're looking for high-quality headphones, I highly recommend the Neumann NDH 30. You won't be disappointed.

Dont listen to the 1 star review
These things have a much less treble harshness than the dt 770's that I returned a few months back although those are much cheaper so not a fair comparison entirely. Use a proper dac and amp these things are solid af. I still like my planars but these are perfect for editing, mixing, and producing. The materials they used feel really nice on ear

Be aware of the cable on a right hand side
Good headphones for mixing, but giving it a four star for the weight and the weirdest thing - the cable is actually on a right hand side. As a studio guy I can’t get used to it.. all my life all headphone cables were on a left, why this had to be an exception ??? Otherwise, good cans, sound pretty objective.

Gorgeous, but ensure plug correctly inserted into earpiece
I have several good dynamic headphones (Beyerdynamic, AKG) but they shared a characteristic sweetness and slightly passive sound that I've found common to dynamics. When I got my Audeze LCD-X at the end of 2021, I found the sound of the dynamics relatively pale. But the LCD-X is weighty and bulky and although within my comfortable wearing range, I still wanted an alternate of normal dynamic scale/mass that could stand up to the planar magnetic's absolutely right-on sound. After considerable research (and based on my experience with Neumann powered speakers and MA-1 DSP alignment), I zeroed in on these Neumann NDH 30. For the first evening and morning that I had them, the sound was not satisfactory. After puzzling about it several hours, I decided to check the plug as inserted into the right earpiece. Sure enough, I hadn't fully inserted it. This is slightly tricky - the plug must be firmly inserted so that it seats in the receptacle and the plug is turned clockwise to lock it. After that fix, I then compared the NDH 30 with the LCD-X by alternate listening to the same passages and tracks. If there's a dynamic headphone that could pass for planar, the NDH 30 is one of them. I perceive the main difference is that the LCD-X seems to highlight the sound in an attractive audiophile-friendly manner, whereas the NDH 30 comes across "straight", as you'd expect from a mixing/monitoring headphone.

Absolutely FATAL design flaw, what a shame
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Love Neumann. Yes, they're owned by Sennheiser. Yes, they're built in China. But, that doesn't matter to me. I have their KH 120 monitors and KH 750 sub, and I mix and master my own music with them, and yeah, those are heavenly. I love Neumann. So, it seemed like these would be a no-brainer.. Unfortunately, no they're not. These have a FATAL design flaw - tiny drivers inside big earcups. You can actually see their tiny drivers beneath the thin orange felt in the earcups, they're not much larger than an earbud! Why is this so bad? Well, you have these massive (comfy, plush, heavenly) earcups, and you can move them all over your ears. This is awesome from a comfort perspective. But, this will change the position of the drivers to different places around your ears. This normally wouldn't be an issue with large drivers (think HiFiMAN planars), but these tiny earbud-sized drivers? Imagine moving an earbud to different places in a 3-inch circle around your ears, you just can't ensure that it's going to have the same sound hitting your ear every time, and aiming into your ear properly. Every time you put these headphones on, you're playing a guessing game trying to align the drivers and aim them into your ears. (And I even have big ears!) Oftentimes, I thought I lost my L or R channel in my stereo signal, because the sound was predominantly in, say, my right ear, and much louder and brighter, all because that earcup was better aligned to my right ear, but the sound hitting my left ear was all quiet and muffled. Trying to master my music with these, I found myself always wondering if I was hearing the right thing, constantly moving these headphones around on my head and ears, trying to get the perfect alignment and "center" the stereo sound. You can also very notably hear the changes in the frequency spectrum depending on if the earcups are aligned while sitting toward the front of your head with your ears in the back of the earcups (muffled sound), or aligned while sitting toward the back of your head, with your ears in the front of the earcups (brighter sound). Why do we have to play this game with a $600 pair of headphones? You shouldn't have to wonder if what you're listening to is accurate or not based on how they're sitting on head. The sound quality, sure, is great. The build quality, sure, is pristine. I did use oratory1990's EQ presets, and the sound was amazing for how little I used them. I compared them to my Sennheiser HD 650s and HiFiMAN Ananda Stealths, and they seemed to maybe lack a bit of the subbass and high treble, but only marginally. I really loved the plush earpads, the metal bits, the rubber bits, the case it came in, the cable... It was all a win, except the drivers. What a stinkin' shame.

First things first. Your right earcup is the one with the cable attached to it. Not many people know this or even bothered looking at the indicators but yeah... Just a heads up xD These things look beautiful! The silver ano is reallllly great and then that polished edge is chef's kiss. They feel incredibly well built and I haven't experienced any creaking when I swivel the cups or stretch them out when I put it on my head. Comfort is a toss up. Pads are comfy albeit I have relatively small ears and my ears don't rub against the drivers so it's got some depth to it. Downside for me is that the padding on the top is too thin for me head and I get a hotspot about 30 minutes of wear and readjust them around to relieve it. I am willing to buy something that will help add more comfort to it but I do know that some argue why spend so much on something if it's not perfect. Well nothing is ever perfect from an objective standpoint xP Sound signature based on what I hear is essentially: - Treble that doesn't bite--nearly sounding dull but still has lots of detail - Midrange that is I think is neutral and doesn't sound forward nor lacking - And a little bit of extra kick in bass Powering these with the FiiO K9 Pro ESS, at high gain at 12 o' clock with the provided cable with FLAC files. About 1 o' clock for something like Spotify or content on the web. Listening to music and consuming content with the Neumann NDH30s, it's anti-climatic but I can only summarize it as: everything sounds right to me. The soundstage isn't large but isn't in my head either like some of the Sennheiser's. The space is just enough distance and the instruments and vocals are placed juuuuust right. Everything sounds natural and not out-of-place. I would note that poorly mastered music will still sound poor. But I still have a fun time with these. Imaging is spectacular I can locate where sounds are and just how close or far it is. But yeah I do not have a single complaint for how these sound. Everything blends so well together it is pretty magical for my experience. It's a 5/5* for me since I am willing to pay for something like a ZMF Crescent Snap to help alleviate the hotspot I get all the time. But a 4/5* would be understandable from an objective view. I have multiple of flavours of headphones in my collection and yet I still pick these. It's sooooo easy for me to get lost into the music for hours and hours. They are really something special to me :D
