It works well as a YA adaptation but is sophisticated enough to be appreciated by adults. Shelley’s original challenging prose is complemented by beautiful illustrations that make it more approachable. The story stays true to the original, following the classic plot and format. Told through letters and multiple points of view, it traces Victor Frankenstein’s descent into madness and hubris. I loved the art style. The letters were written in script, slightly difficult to adjust to at first, but it immediately gave the book an authentic, old-timey feel. The illustrations were bold, morbid, and at times even charming, while also grotesque in others. The bold ink lines and muted watercolors perfectly captured the historical atmosphere. I also appreciated the variety of artistic approaches, especially in the monster’s point-of-view sections, where the style evolved along with his growth. This is an exceptional adaptation of the classic Frankenstein. It not only honors the original but also reimagines it for modern readers. I’m excited to have discovered Gris Grimly’s work and look forward to exploring more of it. Art:5/5 My Enjoyment: 5/5 Review: Gorgeous book! - It took 17 days to get here, but it’s well worth the wait. This is a gorgeous book! Shelley’s original text + Grimly’s haunting illustrations = a must-have addition to any collection. I absolutely love it!

Good. Only thing is I asked for a hardcopy but they gave me a paperback

Accessible and just enough gruesomeness!
I have been teaching Frankenstein by Mary Shelley for 9 years now, and the reading itself is a barrier to many students, as is the thick British accent of many of the audiobook readers. This version makes an important story into an easy read. The art is fantastic, too, and emphasizes the gothic elements to add that gruesome feel to the whole scenario. Creepy enough to interest, but still not gratuitous. I'm trying to find money to by a classroom set now!

Too Beautiful
You can read the entire book easily, but not as hauntingly beautiful as this illustrated book. I feel lucky to have found such a book as this and I adore the style of the drawings. Amazing. I would give more stars if I could.

Amazing Illustrations
I'm in love with Gris Grimly's work. I homeschool, and used this and his Edgar Allen Poe books for some fun Halloween reading. What a great way to introduce kids to classic writers. Grimley uses selections from the original text, interspersed with illustrations. The book starts with several letters without illustrations. My kids and I really needed to power through these letters; we were certainly rewarded with a great read once we got through the boring letters. I've bought a bunch of Grimley's other books. I hope he and other talented artists continue to illustrate classic books with the original text.

Wow!!! 5 Stars
Wow! Wow! The graphics are awesome! I love the size of this book. I also love that Gris Grimly did not change Mary Shelley's text, making it easier for me to use this in our homeschooling. My son gets all the wonderful graphics, as well as, the wonderful story! A plus. I will be buying more of author Gris Grimly's works. Some of the art, I want to pull out and frame, however, I just don't want to ruin the book!

Physical book in subpar condition
I brought the book in hardcover. The book arrived with the paper cover seemingly damaged by water. The hardcover and pages inside though were all intact. I’d be careful buying from this seller, but other than the paper cover the book quality is fine. The story itself is wonderful and art the is absolutely gorgeous. If you’re a fan of graphic novels and Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein, I definitely recommend a read.

Me encanta Grimly.. Me lo pillé en inglés y luego lo sacó Planeta en español... Tanto correr, tanto correr... bueno, pero me costó casi la mitad.

"For the first time I felt what the duties of a creator towards his creature were." I bought this 8 years ago, when I first discovered Grimly as an illustrator. Since then, it has sat on my bookshelf, patiently waiting for me to pick it up. I have read Frankenstein before, and I seem to remember when I read it, that I found it sad more than anything. As with many people, the expectations that I brought to my first reading of the novel were tarnished by snippets of films that I had seen, based upon the myth. What Grimly has done with his illustrated edition, is to bring the classic horror to a new audience. His artwork perfectly compliments this Gothic tale, but if you are not familiar with his work, it may be worth you checking it out before investing in this book. As for the story itself, it is horrific and sad in equal measure. You have the horror of what Victor Frankenstein does, by bringing life to something which should not be walking this earth. You then have the horror of him rejecting his creation, and the repercussions that this brings upon those around Victor, as well as himself. This is not just a horror tale, it is horror with morals at its heart.

The book has grotesque illustration for which Grimly is famed, befitting the theme. The sepia tones highlight the 19th century.

Gorgeous artwork! The price fluctuates often so wait until it dips and it's a win‐win-win situation.

Obra imprescindible si te gusta el mito de Frankenstein y las ilustraciones de Gris Grimly. Lástima que en España no tengamos la posibilidad de disfrutarlo en nuestro idioma. Al menos de momento.
