Great product.
My first experience with this product was breaking the upper sling catch stud . I used pliers to make the leather go onto the stud. I should not have done that. That is no reflection on the quality of the sling. I ordered another one and am in the process on putting on my 1916 Mauser Gew.98. The moral of the story, don't use pliers when hand and finger power works.

Perfect Fit
While not an exact copy, it is a well made sling- the leather is of an appropriate color and strength and the stitching is nice and straight. It is also very easy to install in regular or parade style. If you have a Gew 88, 88/05, or 88/14, this will do the trick at the range or in the trenches.

Good fit. Cant get an original (80 year old leather wouldn't be good anyhow). Looks good on the rifle.

This is a fairly accuate reproduction sling
I bought this sling to put on one of my Gew1888 German Commission rifles, it pretty well matches the original.

Looks great, but will it fit?
It's near impossible to find an original G98 sling, so I opted for this repro with the intent of putting it on my Czech M98/22.The quality of construction is nice. the leather feels sturdy and the patterning is attractive. Unfortunately, I can't give a more thorough review for one reason: it simply does not fit on my rifle.Despite being a G98 pattern rifle, the rear sling mount will not accommodate the spring loaded latch. The dimensions of the latch leave no clearance for it to attach in any meaningful way to the sling mount. Please see the attached photos to see what I mean. On the second photo, I'm comparing this sling latch (left) with an original sling latch (right). You'll notice that the original sling latch is slimmer in profile, and easily installs into the mount. The new production sling latch is wider in profile, and makes it impossible to mount without digging into the wood of the stock.I'll have to see if I can find a way to swap the sling latches so that the original is on the new sling, because as of now, I don't really see a way of making this work. I am not very handy with a needle and thread though!

How to modify sling to fit a 1908 Brazilian Mauser
This is listed for a WW1 98 Mauser. One reviewer indicated that the quick connect swivel was too large and it would gouge the stock when trying to attach it to the butt. He was right at least if I try to use it on a 1908 brazilian mauser. Justgrind it down if you have a grinder. I've attached a photo of the product swivel on the rifle. The original swivel is 9 mm from a side view while the product is 11.5 mm. I believe the original Model 98 used the same swivel as the Brazilian 1908 (Brazilian is shown next to products swivel attached to butt stock) but I don't have a 98 model to compare. In order to make this fit the Brazilian I had to add another hole for the buckle/keeper 1-inch farther from the closest end shortening the sling. This was not much trouble considering how hard they are to find. The paint on the swivel made quick operation difficult but the heat from grinding freed it up.
