Fantastic book! Joni shows how to use the words in hymns to give us what we need in those bad days of life! I use one chapter a week and meditate all week on the hymn's message. There is one hymn in each chapter. Chapters are very short. You can do more than one if you choose.

I bought this for myself, then turned around and ordered another for a friend going through a hard time. So encouraging. Great for your coffee table or a gift.

This book is a treasure to give to anyone suffering or grieving.

This is a beautiful book. With wonderful, honest devotions on 25 hymns and lovely photographs throughout. I would have loved it even more, though, if the hymns were sung and in a playlist. You are encouraged to memorize to music. But I need more than sheet music personally. I'm just such a poor singer. But I'd love to develop Joni's abilities. Perhaps this is just beyond me. But if a Playlist came out, I'd also buy it. I'll still get much from reading.

Joni speaks into our suffering with compassion and wisdom. I bought one for me and one for my mother. I know all the songs in the book. I even created a YouTube playlist of the songs for my mom to listen to. There are 3 sections of songs in the book, so I actually created 3 playlists. It nice to listen to the songs while reading the book.

This hymnal and devotional book is very nice for encouragement for those who are ill. It comes with touching story from the author. I like that it has devotionals, stories and pictures throughout it. The hardcover and pages are nice quality.

We've had some major tragedies this past year. As a matter of fact, I was witness to a few tragedies before our own hit us, so it seems fitting I paraphrase Queen Elizabeth: "2022 is not a year in which I shall look back with undiluted pleasure...In the words of one of my more sympathetic correspondents, it has turned out to be an 'Annus Horribilis'."Anyways, while i haven't had time to really play all these hymns on the piano (one of the reason I ordered), I have looked at the book, and it's a beautiful book-- with interesting commentary and well-chosen hymns. I guess it's not the right book for our family. I don't get upset and think, "gee let me play some hymns." So, I moved it from it's place in the kitchen where I was trying to read it, to the piano in the hope I'll pick it up if I'm playing. I haven't really.Still, that's me-- it's a good book, with a variety of comforting and hopeful hymns in it, and it may be something that really helps you in your grief. It definitely would make a great gift to someone suffering some loss.

This book is a treasure as it is so beautiful, insightful and encouraging book. While history buffs may really like the historical aspect of the book, anyone can be blessed by the stories told and inspired. Joni E. Tada is an excellent author....she touches your head and your heart.
