A good choice!
We were prompted to get a rechargeable weather radio when an F1 tornado sporting 100mph winds, hail, and heavy rain skirted past us last week by about 100 yards and left thousands without power in our area. The TV weatherman was just telling people to take cover when the electricity failed, so we had no idea what was coming. Our own home was left without power for almost 19 hours, and it would have been great to know what was going on in the world or have a bit of music. We chose this radio as it is also powered by AAA batteries and can be charged in several ways. We charged it immediately via the sturdy crank (It really worked!! So happy!!) and tuned in a local FM and weather band station. Extending the antenna helps. The stations came in well, and the sound is really pretty good. Haven't tried to recharge a cell phone, but the flashlight is fairly bright. Seems well made and is small enough to put in a pocket if need be. Hope we don't need it for emergency use, but it was a good choice for us, and very reasonably priced. Look forward to using it while working in the garden, as well!

AAA batteries got very hot when installed >yes correctly<
I just received my NOAA weather radio by KOZO today. Two things about the AAA battery function I am very displeased with. First is the lid is warped and will not snap into place. Second is very ... concerning . I studied how to place the batteries in as you only have a picture to go by.. when I did this and closed the lid best I could , IMMEDIATELY the compartment got really hot fast ! I took them out right away and they were so hot I could not touch them. I had read where someone had the same problem but can't find it now. A few other ppl complained about the warped lid too . I bought this particular item because of the ability to use AAA batteries so I can also take it to the beach with me and on a walk. I am afraid to use batteries now and think if this is a common problem I may return it and find something else to buy instead. Other wise it is a good radio for the price. You get what you pay for I assume. Not sure what to do ......would another one have issues too ?So I contacted the company and wrote to Tommy.... he sent his apologies and immediately offered to send me another one for free. Within a week I received and new one and it was PERFECT ! No problems at all with installing the batteries and the lid over the compartment fit well . I am very pleased and changed my rating to 5 * .. Customer service was the best I have ever had purchasing anything online . Tommy emailed me a few times to see if I got it and was it to my pleasing. I would buy from them again. Kozo is a good company. Thank you Tommy for all your kindness I appreciate it. With hurricane season upon me here in Florida I feel better knowing if I lose power I can at least have weather band and music to keep my mind off it. The radio is awesome too. I could not believe how loud it could play and clear. For the price you could not ask for a better emergency radio. I took it to the beach this week too .. so cool :) Happy beacher now

Full of Features for Emergencys!
All the features work well. Decent sound for a small radio. Included lithium battery and hand crank dynamo are enough to rely on in emergency. Light is bright! AM-and FM are sensitive but not good for DXing. Tuining marks are not perfectly accurate but who cares. WX works great but SW is tuff to tune. Seems very well built. Highly recommended!

Does it work and how well?
Well let's see, first off it's small, it's light very well suited for having in a back pack. the one i recived is very good quility, every fuction works, on mine anyway the way it should. i have checked every fuction and found no problems . When on charge the charge light comes on no matter how i am charging it. be it solar, hand crank or from my computer. also this radio will charge my phone . granted the charge rate is a bit slow ,but thats to be expeted.and on mine when i am no longer charging, the charge light go;s off. just as it should. ok next radio reseption, first off i live in southern Idaho mostly open spaces. Largest city is Twin Falls about 30 miles away. AM stations reciption is good FM is better. and that is normal. Weather forcast's good but not great. not sure where it comes from. only one station. Short wave is very poor during the day if at all, a little better at nite after the sun goes down. would be better with a long wire ant. but it does work. This radio is like a pint jar , it cannot hold a quart if it holds a pint it;s doing the best it can. and iam pleased with it . also from what i have been reading the custmer service is top notch and first rate.

Great Little Emergency radio and light
I just took it out of the box and started cranking it for less than a minute to make sure it worked. The flashlight part is super bright. The radio works as well as can be expected where we are out in the country. Not a lot of stations to chose from here, but it picked up a few that came in sharp and clear. After being without power for a week I wanted a radio to listen to news on that didn't need batteries. ( This one will take batteries also, but I won't put them in as no telling when the next time will be that we will have need of it.) It is small and light so you can take it camping with you also.

Excellent customer service
I am amending my first 1 star review which is below. After returning my first unit I was contacted by a company rep. Who saw how disappointed I was in their product. He offered to send me a replacement unit free of charge to review. The new unit is much better. It is free of damage and functions well. I think overall it is decent product for the price, and the excellent customer service makes it worth a shot. Thnx. //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Really disappointing. Battery cover will not lock shut because of warping to the body of the unit. The crank handle is loose and falls away from the body making it likely to get damaged or snapped off. The power/volume control nearly broke off in in my hand during my first attempt at turning on the radio. The bottom of the unit has visible damage from exposure. I stopped at that point. Are they all this poor in quality? I will never know. Return label printed 5 mins after opening the box.
