Metal Clay Magic

pleasant to read
This book did not only offer a 'plesant read' but I also found the illustrations stimulating and the text easy to follow. I enjoyed the paragraphs about playing with metal clay, glass and ceramics, the Hollow Bead Bracelet and the Origami chapter. But in the final pages I somehow lost interest as the 'Inspiration' pages were not very inspiring for me.All in all, I am pleased I bought the book. It certainly inspired me to find my own inspiration!

metal clay magic
This book is full of great designs, however- I would not recommend this book for any self taught student. One can be self taught and not have to spend $300+ on a teacher telling you what you can learn on your own. Metal clay is NOT a hard product to learn. There are too many books on the market that read the same and have the same information on metal clay. My advise, free tutorials on the net are the best way to learn. Not only are the books on the market the same on metal clay, but do all of the authors have to word their instructions on every single move that their hands make? In conclusion, this book is good for the basics of metal clay and to make the designs in the book only. You can incorporta your own ideas after learning the way to execute a design. Purchase one or two great books on metal clay and leave it at that.

disappointed
The book has many pretty pictures, and if all you want to do is make metal jewelry without added stones, it is probably adequate. But the thing I wanted to know most was how to set gemstones in finished metal clay jewelry, and the one paragraph devoted to that topic was singularly uninformative. For me, buying this book means having to buy another on the same topic - and hope for the best!

very interesting
very in formative and great illustrations. lots of detail on the process of metal clay jewelry making with out a kiln. It show how creative metal clay could be. Has a lot of interesting projects that seem to be very flexible.

Great instructional book
I'm new to Metal Clay and wanted to give it a try. After looking at several from the local library I decided this one is the best to have on hand.

Great book!
The author was so detailed in her instructions that I feel I can successfully complete the project with great results! I am a beginner at PMC, but she made me comfortable with her explanations, pictures, and suggestions.

LOVE IT!
Love this book. It goes into more detail about paper clay and shows more projects. I use this book as my main reference.

Not as magic as I would have liked
I found this book quite disappointing. Yes there are lots of full-colour photos but they actually show several pieces of work finished to a not-very-good standard. The only pieces I would hope to emulate, weren't made by the author and were actually photos of Cici Wire's or Hattie Sanderson's work.I was particulary disturbed by one of Ms Mizushima's projects where she makes a butterfly pendant by covering a real butterfly with gold. She suggests you find one with "distinct veins" and then shows full-colour photos of her burning the dead butterfly away with a hot torch, am I the only one that thinks that's a bit grim!I have actually just looked through the book again and there is not one project I would want to try. There are far better books out there, I have personally bought several metal clay books and would recommend The art of metal clay by Sherri Haab...it is a joy, I would save your money for that instead
