3 Squares 3RC-3050 Rice Cooker, 20 Cup/4 Qt, Stainless Steel/Black

My daughter had the older model which was recalled apparently but she kept using it until it finally died. We thought we were going to have to go without but then I saw this on Amazon after 3 months of just getting by with our regular slow cooker.This cooker is SO much better. It salutes so you can brown things before you slow cook them. There are 5 settings on the slow cooker so you can pick how much time you want something to cook in and then it goes to a keep warm setting so it doesn't burn. It has a setting for white rice, brown rice, quinoa, oatmeal, yogurt and it's super easy to use. I tried an InstaPot and it intimidated me with all the time settings and rules.I've been cooking too long to learn new rules to make meals so this is perfection for me. We didn't buy just one.. we bought 4. One for me, one for my daughter, one for her boyfriend.. and a spare.

Update 3/13/2019: I bought this thing back in February 2018 and have used it at least three times a week since then. It's still running perfectly. After looking at these reviews, it seems like I'm one of the lucky ones.I've been using the Tim3 Machin3 at least four times a week for a month. It works amazinly well and I always end up with delicious rice. My only complaint is that I wish they had a bigger steamer tray for the vegetables. The tray is perfect for one or two people, but isn't quite enough for more than that. The pot for rice is plenty big though.Tip: If making curry rice, 3 teaspoons of curry powder, 3 cups jasmine rice (the tim3 machin3 measuring cup), and 4 1/2 cups chicken stock (again the tim3 machin3 provided measuring cup) makes an amazingly flavored, simple curry rice that's light and fluffy. Add a bit of butter and its perfect.The Tim3 Machin3 measuring cup is 3/4 instead of the standard cup, just in case you lose the cup they provide.

There was nothing about this rice cooker that I did not like. I bought my first one April 2019. It worked superbly for me, no matter what kind of rice I cook. The reason I bought a second one was because my son was not careful with how he handled it. First, he bent the outside. Then shortly thereafter, he somehow caused the cord to rip out. I was so angry and disappointed with his lack of care for something that didn’t belong to him/that he didn’t pay for. I’m learning the hard way that when some people don’t have a vested interest in something, many times their care of it is not usually the best. I’m sorry some people didn’t find it work well for them. Well, I ordered the Comfee rice cooker, and each time I cooked rice in it, there was always a little water in the bottom of the pot - no matter how long I kept it plugged up to keep it warm. So, I hope this one will work as well as the prior one.

Not a very good way to cook rice it leaves the rice under cook

After using it for over a year, I would not recommend this product. In slow cook mode, it does not allow custom time settings and food does not get done in the time allowed. I have used it for various meats and dried beans with the same result. As a rice cooker it is adequate.

So, I know that this item has a lot of bad reviews and that a lot of them seem to be based on customer service issues from a past recall. So while I can completely understand everyones frustration, I didn't have to deal with any of that and simply purchased this rice cooker based on some of the options that it has. So with all that said, this thing is amazing! I waited for quite a while after purchasing it to write this review because I wanted to try out all the different settings first (truthfully, I still haven't tried making yogurt in it). Rice cooks faster than my old Aroma brand rice cooker, quinoa cooks easier than on the stove, and what's turned out to be one of my favorite options is the oatmeal setting combined with the delay timer. My wife and kids love oatmeal (steel cut in particular) but it takes forever to cook! With this thing I just set it up at night, turn on the timer and when everyone is ready for breakfast in the morning, so is the oatmeal. There are a couplet little things that I don't like, though not enough to dock a star...the little spoon/paddle thing that comes with it seems kind of cheap. And the water catcher is similarly cheap. Also, on my old Aroma, the lid gasket had a little hole in it so that when you opened the lid, the water all drained through that hole into the water collector...this rice cooker doesn't have that so there is always water getting caught in the lid. Overall though, I'm very happy with this item!

So I wanted to make Yogurt...I looked around and found plenty yogurt makers, but they were all one function machines...they only make yogurt. So I bought this Tim3 Machin3...and made perfect Yogurt! Just make sure to read the directions in the booklet for the timing on ingredient adding, not on the box. the box is misleading which is partially responsible for the loss of one star.Yesterday - and then into the night I made pork shoulder. It took longer than I expected. after 5 hours on high I expected the pork to be done. It was not, so I then left it in over night for 8 hours on low...finally done. In my regular crock pot 4 hours on high or 8 on low would have done it alone...so it did work, just cooked much slower than I expected...maybe I overloaded it...The programmability is great. The machine is sleek. and so far its working pretty well.Overall a good machine...not amazing, but pretty good.

Made some Jambalaya rice With Cabaso sausage. It came out perfect. It's my new toy.
