A must read for every job seeker
“Ace your C-Suite Interview” by Leora Bach is a great resource, but not only for the C-Suite executives. Everyone looking for a new position should read this rich and well written book with a touch of personal development, which is a missing element in many similar books. And what’s more, it’s written from the heart, with priceless background information and many valuable tools, exercises, and useful examples (such as common asked interview questions, and how these questions also could be paraphrased, so you know what to expect). They all help tremendously with the preparation process. When a headhunter tells you about her job that “This is what I love to do most – help people who have lost all hope and given up on themselves, and show them that they can turn their situation around and be better off than before “, one should listen to her words. And when she has 25 years experience that she’s willing to share, it’s a gift.

Some good info
This book was useful in some aspects. However, several premises I found a bit dated and irrelevant to today's corporate culture.Disclosing current salary: What is the point of a new employer asking what my current salary is? I can see no valid reason they'd need that except to low ball an offer. If my job responsibilities are changing significantly my current salary is moot. I prefer to frame compensation by total package. I ask if the client is working with a specific range and what the total package is. Many companies ask for target comp to ensure we're on the same page to avoid wasting time.Companies definitely hire cheaper candidates. I know several people this happened to. It seems the author is under the premise business people all have the right intentions when this is clearly not the case across the board in corporate America.Age correlation: Pairing 'Boris the bear' up with a 'young dynamic team' and the subsequent comments about his age were off-putting. Boris was set up for failure and it's disappointing that blatant ageism was discussed in this book. That kind of discussion can get one sued. He may not have been a personality fit. I would stick to logical concrete reasons why he wasn't a good fit and not discuss age.I checked out the author's website and it hasn't been updated in a while. It has references to online courses dated 2019 and links that don't redirect to any courses.
