The Family Treasure Nature Encylopedias series is wonderful, charming, and beautiful! My children and I love these books. An egg is quiet is a gorgeous book! The illustrations are quite beautiful. This book is chock full for great information for learning. The way this series is written makes it easy for younger and older children to enjoy. The way the words just whimsically dance across the page is beautiful. A great asset to your home library or homeschool library.

The illustrations are beautiful and instructive. The writing is clear, almost poetic, and readily accessible even to young readers. Enjoyable by children and adults - especially when enjoyed together! This is truly a lovely creation.

Absolutely beautiful and fun to read. Gorgeously illustrated. Informative without being too much for littles, and has different stages of information sp the book grows with your kiddo! My 6 year old loves trying to match the egg illustrations in the front cover to the animals on the back.

I think this is a superb book in every respect. However, I disagree with the recommended age of ages of 5 and 6. It may be fun and informative for little children, but I also see it as very appropriate for older elementary-age children, who are more likely to understand the vocabulary, and can peruse and study the excellent, scientifically correct illustrations and descriptions at their leisure, or when they want to use the information for school reports or other purposes.

The illustrations are beautiful and there is so much information to learn. Perfect for spring when birds are laying eggs in nests and new goslings are plentiful to observe. One caution for those who don’t believe in an old earth…there is one reference to “millions of years” on the page about fossilized eggs. Otherwise a lovely book that is very interesting!

So much in so few words. Such a gentle, beautiful way to introduce children to all the eggs in the natural world and to the idea that they too started as an egg. We volunteers at the zoo were looking for a themed presentation to encourage children to explore the world of the egg. We thought and thought and came up short, mainly because we were focusing only on bird eggs. This book does just that by taking the "egg" concept as a diversity of life example. For the older children, we can use real eggs; for the young ones, we can use the book and its lovely illustrations.

Very beautiful illustration. This book is packed with lot of information about eggs. Written in poetic way. This book describes around 60 types of eggs. Birds, reptiles and insects. You will be amused how different each eggs are. How eggs come in different shape, size, colour and texture. This book by Dianna hutts aston is highly recommended for nature lovers.

I just love books that are both factual and beautiful, and this is absolutely one of them. Really fills you with a sense of wonder at the magic of the natural world. Text is very accessible even though it describes complex things and illustrations are simply beautiful. If you enjoy this one, you'll also love the Nature Storybooks series published by Walker - similar blend of beautiful book and fascinating facts.
