I have had the same small 3 speed Vornado for nearly ten years now, and while my original model truly deserves a 21 gun salute for its service over the years, it was time to upgrade and get something from the modern age. That’s where this Vornado DC Fan comes in. First Impressions Vornado makes quality products, and this one is no different. It has an elegant simplicity to it with a minimalist design, and more importantly, they last FOREVER. My last model had a 3 speed dial on the back, so you had to go turn it on and off in a slightly inconvenient manner. This model is improved by having two buttons on the front that let you raise/lower with a setting range of 1-100, so much more customizable. Power This fan doesn't mess around. Remember as a child when you left a window open and your dad would chastise you for trying to cool the whole neighborhood? With this fan, you can. Perfect for combating the sweltering Texas heat or for keeping you chilly in your blankets like an arctic fox burrowing in the snow. Or maybe you want a mild gentle breeze - that’s fine too, the speed control lets you customize your airflow for the ideal temperature. Sound This fan is… not quiet, to say the least. If you asked me before I had a Vornado, I might not think this sounded like a good thing. Honestly though, it’s pure bliss. Better than the best white noise machine. It's like a steady, soothing hum that drowns out the world's symphony of nighttime noises. Thanks to this fan, I now sleep like a log - a log in a blissful hurricane. I also sleep with pepper spray because I’m pretty sure someone could break down my door and I would not hear it when this is on. Remote Control Okay conceptually? I love the remote control. Gone are the days of bargaining and pleading with your spouse to get up and turn off the fan so you can stay safely inside your warm cocoon of blankets. Sort of. This remote seems like it has a maximum distance of 4 feet on a good day, and that’s only if you are in direct line with the fan. That being said, it doesn’t necessarily have to point the air directly at you to work, so this isn’t TOO bad once you find a good spot for it. It also keeps the same setting when you turn it on and off, so you don’t have to fuss to get that perfect number each time. Final Thoughts Overall, I’d say this fan is a solid buy. It's strong, reliable, and it won't let you down when the heat is on. Yes, the remote might make you feel like you're trying to communicate with a stubborn cat at times, but it's an easily fixable quirk for the reward of controlled breeziness. If you have little patience for modification to optimize a product or you want to hear every creak in your house during the night, it probably isn’t for you. However, if you are looking for highly adjustable control and you can’t sleep without arctic winds and a peaceful silence, you’ve found your match.

Never bought one of these before. Price seemed high for a fan and I thought all fans were basically the same. This fan's technology was new to me. I will start by saying the Vornado does make a huge difference in lowering the temperature feel in a room especially in smaller rooms. We have central air in the house but don't run it often. I like my room cold so have been running a window air conditioner on max almost every night in the summer for years. Had to get rid of the window AC this year due to a damaged window. I have to say the Vornado has performed admirably on 90 degree days alongside central air. The Vornado re-circulates the air extremely well and you really feel the difference. Even on its own you immediately feel the difference over a standard fan. The remote works well. For anyone bothered by the light on the fan display you can put a piece of mail over it without blocking out the sensor so the remote still works. The fan timer is a nice touch. You can set the timer for 6-8 hours so it shuts off before you wake up. If you are looking at buying a Vornado I would highly recommend this model over the others for ease of use, power, and reliability... for some reason people had a lot of issues with some of the other more basic Vornado models without the remote. As for the many reviews complaining about the noise, I actually like it. Running at 50 speed, the noise of the fan helps to greatly reduce outside noise. The fan creates more of a white noise sound anyways and you quickly get used to it. Have run it at 70+ speed as a change of pace and the noise did bother me though. But running it at 50 speed is the best of both worlds, blocks out outside noises that might wake you up in the morning and makes a big difference in how cool the room feels. Overall, for a regular sized bedroom, the Vornado comes highly recommended. But for very large rooms or open areas you would probably need something else entirely like a high powered window air conditioner.

This fan is MUCH quieter than my older (several years ago) Vornado fan. It moves a lot of air, too! My only con is that the light displays are on all night. It's more light than I would like, since it's in a bedroom. SO, I put dark blue masking tape over them. The remote still works. No problem! I like the compact size and adjustable body to direct the air flow. This product comes from Andover, Kansas. US. Vornado fans have been around for decades and so far, the quality and value is still way up there!

I did my research on what was the best fan to get. I use a fan around the clock when I'm home. About four years ago I got my first Vornado fan. I got the mid size black one. Cost around $65 and it was great. The best fan I ever got. I had it 3 and a half years. The only reason I had to get a new one was I dropped it and broke it. I did my research again to decide which Vornado fan to get. I was reading the specs and I found the only difference between this model and the same fan but the small model was one the small covered 80 feet and the mid size 85. I thought it really was no difference and the smaller one would fit better on my dresser. I was going to get the standing one but didn't have enough money to buy it and I wanted a fan more portable. I bring it with me when I visit friends overnight. I got the small one and I thought it was defective. I had it on the highest speed and I was a foot away and really didn't feel it. So I called Vornado and they told me the mid size has a motor twice as powerful. The motor size wasn't in the description or I missed it and didn't see the difference between the two. It still could of been defected but I returned it and got this model. The medium size. I didn't get the same model I had because I wanted to upgrade. This has 99 speeds and a remote. What a difference. It's amazing. Very powerful and it works great. I would definitely recommend this model. Vornado definitely makes the best fans. Different models are for different people. If your the type of person that's always hot and likes a strong fan, this model is for you.

Alright. This really does move air around strangely. Like you feel the air even when it’s pointed at the ceiling, regardless where you’re sitting/laying. Noise or sound wise, at 99 (top speed) it’s quite loud BUT a consistent sound. Some fans are NOT consistent. Consistency is key for sleep. Most similar to a blow dryer. Like if you were at a salon. I’ve got insomnia. I sleep like a baby to this sound and loudness but if you’re looking for quiet, this ain’t it. I enjoy the remote addition though it’s not super responsive. I wish I could turn the lights off on the display since it’s bright at night and I have to cover it. I bet the manual has something for that… I bought two. One for home and one for my office. They do the job, they’re just loud. So between this and the one that’s like $40 less, I’d probably save the $40 and just buy the other one - especially since I end up changing the speed manually anyway since the remote is finicky.

I have had this fan for a few weeks now using it 24/7. I got it for my bedroom in Oregon where it gets very hot and humid (90s so far this week). I have no A/C. I spent the extra money for this Vornado for two reasons: 1) I have a Vornado heater that I have used in the winter for a few years...it's awesome and keeps the entire room right on my temperature setting: I don't have to fiddle with it, worry about it, no glowing coils to be concerned about etc. If you need a room heater, the Vornado is 5-star. 2) I wanted the DC brushless motor. Lower electricity costs (80% less than an standard 3-speed fan) and quiet. This fan is awesome to keep the room cooler and it does indeed "circulate" the air. You can aim it anywhere in the room and still feel the air moving around the room when you are not directly in the flow. Note: The settings go from 1 to 99 in small increments. No, "lo,med,hi" knob like almost all fans. So you can set it to the exact flow/power you would like. At max (99), you can hear it...but it's the sound of the air flow, not some kind of motor whine or noise. If you set it to about 65 or below, you cannot hear it unless you are right next to it. I sleep with it on about 5 feet from my bed and I definitely do not notice it at all. If you are fluctuating on the price of this fan compared to others, don't equivocate. This is definitely worth the price. "You get what you pay for...."

This is the Vornado fan I've been waiting for. Our family loves this brand, but as with anything, some models are better than others. This fan has 99 speeds, which is more than we need, but unlike Vornado's infinitely variable speed models, with this one, you can find the same speed again. Also, when you turn it off and on, it remembers the previous speed you had it set on and starts there. Very handy if you have a favorite speed you like it on at night, for instance. The remote control is perfect. It is simple enough to use in the dark if you need to. The only issue with this fan is the very bright display and power button that you can't dim. Get some dimming film from Amazon and you're set, though. I still give this fan 5 stars.

Very powerful yet quiet fan. I've been looking for a strong fan to use in our bedroom that would be quiet and after buying and returning a few I finally found this one. We really love it. It's surprising how powerful this little fan is. After we got one for our daughter, I ordered another one immediately for our bedroom. Several surprising features: 1. Remote control - I would have never believed that a remote control to a fan would make it so much more convenient. 2. 99 fan speeds - at first I thought it's an overkill. There is nothing that 3 button positions that most fans have would not cover. Wrong. Again, you don't realize how much difference there is in small speed adjustment until you have a fan that can do it. 3. Super powerful - it's so powerful the highest speed we've ever used it at was 35. 4. Super quiet - the engineering behind this fan is ingenious. How can such a small fan be so powerful yet so quiet? We use it all night and sometimes I don't know whether it's on or it's just the wind outside. Simply. Amazing.

Estoy en GDL en una habitación a la que da el sol todo el día y no tiene forma de cubrirse. Al 60% ya genera muchísimo aire y no hace tanto ruido como un ventilador más grande. No he tenido que usarlo a mayor potencia, ya que a ese nivel enfría muy bien el cuarto. La verdad estoy sorprendido. Me dieron un ventilador mucho más grande, pero es muy ruidoso y no genera tanto aire como este. Definitivamente es una compra muy útil y posiblemente compre otro en el futuro.

My apartment gets hot in the summer and I have no A/C so I've been using regular fans for years. My trick is to set a fan in the window facing inward to draw cooler air in, then have another fan at the open sliding door at the other end of the apartment to blow the hot air out. This worked, but was slow. Last night I did this with 2 Vornado fans at full speed and lowered my apartment temp by 3 degrees in about 20 minutes. I could actually feel the air moving between the fans from one room to another. I'll be donating my other 3 regular fans. The fans are still new (got my second one 2 days ago) but so far I love them. Highly recommended.

I was very surprised how much air it pushes .I honestly thought being energy smart if would be weak .it is not. The air flow is great. The sound is not bad at all .it's smooth no screeching or clicking . It's very lightweight . Easy to move .
