Xlt dvd
The dvd works great on my 6 yr old blue ray player, but got no sound when used on my 12 yr old dvd player. The dvd is great, very crisp video and audio. 2 different sound stage events.and they play a lot of covers. Not a bad thing as u get to experience his vast catalog of music.

Audio engineer ruined the performance
Unless you are looking for a perfect example of why it's important for music performers to hire good sound engineers don't buy this. The band's performance is excellent, near as I can tell, but the audio engineer really messed things up. It seems like very poor use of side chain compression, among other things, causes various instruments to drop out of the background and that, along with other instances of fluctuating volume levels, ruins the listening experience. Very sad ...

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers - Live In Concert DVD
I am a new Tom Petty fan and I am still unfamiliar with his music. I enjoyed watching this DVD. The picture and soundtrack quality are good. Petty and his group performed good live versions of some songs that I am familiar with such as "Handle With Care", "I Won't Back Down", "Angel Dream", and "Refugee". The other songs in this DVD are good too.

If your a TP&H fan there is no question you are going to buy this anyway so here is an observation...
I will let all the other reviews discuss the songs the band does (originals and covers from other artists), the camera angles, etc. Frankly, if your a fan you will purchase this. If you are in a TP&H tribute band, you will purchase this. So my review will consist of an observation I had while watching this as one aspect of this production struck me as odd. When I have gone to rock & roll concerts, TP&H as well as others, as anyone who has been to a rock concert will know, there is (usually) an energy, sometimes a frenzy emanating from the audience. Sometimes this is more evident as the opening act may get a luke-warm response (most people remaining in their seats, politely clapping at the end of songs, etc) while the headliner elicits much more fervor. In this Sound Stage production, there is no sense of that fervor from the audience, it felt almost like a dress rehearsal from the band...I actually felt bad for the band as I know that they feed partly off the audience to get their energy levels and juices flowing to put on a great show. I have only watched it once so far, so maybe it is just that you don't hear the audience as they were not recorded well, or maybe they were recorded on a separate track and turned down in the studio, I do not know. The audience shots of the people you can see up front are generally older (whom can afford those choice seats of course) so you do not see a lot of movement from them. Is any of this important? NOT AT ALL. Personally, I would rather have 5 separate video feeds that focused on each member of the band that I could watch separately as I love watching what each member does; what are the chord voicings that Mike, Tom and Scott are using, which keyboard or piano is Benmont using, what drum fill Steve is playing. This never happens in any concert video, so...sigh.The only reason I gave that description above is to prepare one for the lack of energy and really audible cheering from the audience; it does not SOUND like a live show as some of the best live albums do. Again, this is NOT a bad thing, just different.Still, I for one enjoyed most of the covers and all the original songs the band did, and I do Highly recommend this 2 DVD disc set. A LOT of music for the money.

TP & The HB's having a party with old cover tunes....
TP & The HB's having a grand ol' time and it shows. Had seen this concert on PBS a long time ago. A lot of cover songs and not the usual hits was a big draw for me. I've heard all this hits way to many times already. Some are here and are enjoyable, but the covers make the concert. The video and DTS sound are excellent. The sound is nicely balanced and all instruments/voices come through nicely. No extras included. An interview would have been nice,

Tom Petty at his Finest
I've loved Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers ever since I first heard them decades ago. I happened to catch a show on Piladia and sought to find music videos of them. I found them and the movie I found also was a bonus. Tom Petty is a Music Icon and still performing with his original members and they get better with time. This is a must have for any Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers fan.

Great Concert
Excellent concert although staged for the music industry a bit like the MTV series of concerts. Tom Petty is in great form as is his band...

A great live act.
The sound on this DVD is very good and the picture quality is also first class. The only problem for casual fans is the song content. This is not a greatest hits concert by any means and many of the bands biggest songs are conspicous by their absence. There are quite a few covers in the playlist which is not necessarily a bad thing. All Tom Petty fans will love this DVD I`m just not so sure about more casual observers.

Seller went the extra mile.
Was contacted by seller and warned the product would not play in my region and asked if I was set up to play out of region bluray discs. I appreciated this courtesy. When the disc turned up it was,in fact, multi region. Concert was as described, both sound and vision were very clear.
