Very cool!!! Great way to try out slick VR without breaking the bank
If you want to try out VR without breaking the bank then you need this. With a full blown Oculus setup running $ 600 plus needing a high-end PC to run it, this is a great way to dip your toes in the VR pool to see if you would want to take the plunge. I know what your thinking $ 129 for another variation of a Google cardboard headset. Nope not even, if Google cardboard is the McDonald's of VR then this things is Outback Steak House, not 5 stars, but definitely a few steps up from Google cardboard. I recently upgraded from a Note 2 (yeah I know I'm behind) to a S7 Edge, for two reasons, 1) so I could use the Gear 360 camera and 2) so I could use the Gear VR headset. Some details about this unit. The headset uses Oculus' own store created for the Gear VR and it is very slick, you can access Netflix, YouTube etc, just like Google cardboard, but done in a much more professional manner. The controller is a nice addition, it appears like a laser pointer in the VR. One thing to note there are few titles compared to Google Cardboard and they fall into two classes, demos (mostly) and pay apps which like the Gear VR are a cut above cardboard apps, especially price wise. The headset actually has electronics built-in which provides an enhanced layer of functionality, there is a USB charging port that will power the Gear VR and charge your phone. I recommend you use an external battery for charging (sitting in your lap) as your going to be twisting around in different directions to see everything and the cord will get tangled. I have been told, (but haven't tested it yet) that the charging port can also function as an OTG port allowing you to connect external devices like game controllers, memory sticks, keyboards and mice. Another thing to note is it does not support (as far as I can tell) the ability to access apps that already exist on your phone, (so no playing your favorite 2D games), nor does it officially support Google cardboard apps, but there are some folks that have written workarounds for this, (again I haven't tried any of them yet). So I suggest you do some research. The summary: Is it worth the price of admission? I certainly think so and as it become more popular I think we will see an increase in the number and variety of applications for it. Also, I can't speak to other carriers, but if you get it from Verizon and don't like it you should have 15 days to return it.

Fantastic little companion for VR
If you ever wanted a taste of what VR is like, this is a great way to get started. Granted you'll need a Samsung galaxy phone, but still it's a step in the right direction. Lemme go over a few things:HeadsetThe headset itself is rather tricky to get working the first time. The straps might not feel great on the head, but that's easy to adjust. Long hair beware! Also with the additional controller mount the headset can feel a bit lopsided. So i'd recommend strapping the sides first. The lens can take time to adjust right, but the range is nice and high if you are near/far sighted which is a real plus. You can also adjust your internal resolution to 2K, giving you a much higher fidelity in certain videos and games. Can use way more battery though.ControllerThe controller is rather basic but very functional for basic games. The tracking is mostly based on an internal gryo method, which is accurate in orientation but will not track distance. That will be an adjustment from those playing in usual vr setups.Buttons are easy to remember, but hard to associate when playing games. This goes away over time when you get a feel for it.This controller uses AAA batteries so be sure to snag some beforehand as mine didn't come with any (purchased used)ContentIt has and can play anything the Oculus Go can play, as well as any extra android apps that support it. It's a pretty big bonus for this system over it. Smash Hit is damn near essential on mobile VR since it's a great intro game to the system. (Like how Superhot VR is to desktop VR)Comes with some free stuff, but mostly video related stuff.OtherThe battery will drain on this thing! Thankfully you can plug this into an external power supply using a usb-c cable. This to me seems like the best way to enjoy this for longer than forty minutes. The internal plug can be swapped from usb-b to usb-c which is a nice plus, allowing use with multiple models from Samsung.ConclusionWhile not as in-depth as desktop VR, this will probably give you a taste into VR and might just make you eager enough to try and get the real deal. The best aspect is without a doubt being able to watch 360 videos, where news coverage of many things really give you a brand new perspective on the story, It's as humbling.Seller gave me a nasty busted up box but thankfully it's in-tact so I guess I can't complain. The box did it's job in the end.

It's a hoot!
I'm having so much fun! I'm 59 years young and have wanted to try something like this ever since they came out. I had to get a new phone because my old Note 3 was running out of memory and I could not wait for the Note 8, so I got a good deal on a S8+ from my cell phone server. Along with my new phone I saw I was able to connect it to the Gear VR, so I got one and have been having a ball since. I'm a horror fanatic and am hooked on DreadHall, though it took me awhile to get used to the fast motion without feeling ill. However, I did have to buy a more complicated controller than the one supplied with this but it was under $20. Today I also went scuba diving and rode on a rollercoaster, something I haven't been able to do since my back problems worsened. I've seen the Oculus and HTC advertized, but cannot justify spending all that money when I can get this much cheaper and still do just about everything you can with theirs. This was very easy to set up and, I must add, a good set of headphones makes this a totally immersible experience!

Great Mobile VR Experience
Love this VR headset, after using my friends Daydream VR I had to have a VR headset. Works flawlessly with my Samsung galaxy S8 and the experience is great once set up. The Headset is slightly heavier than I would like but not unmanageable, it's very comfortable with ample padding, the tracking is really good considering it is a mobile phone in it, and the controller works like it should with easy setup and great ergonomics. It is every bit as good as the daydream VR but I can't compare it to a standalone VR headset like the Playstation VR, Oculus Rift, or HTC Vive. The price is kinda high when compared to those cheap VR headsets you see all over the place but with how well it works and is made I highly recommend it and the experience.
