It can be used for transmitting (and receiving, ie. transceiving) as long as you stay within the wattage limits of the antenna. Thanks!

The ANT500 is a 50 ohm general purpose antenna. It is the perfect first antenna for use with HackRF One or YARD Stick One.

Does this help scanner reception?

This antenna was designed to work with the HackRF One and works best from 75 MHz to 1 GHz. Depending on what you plan to use it with, it may be useful for your application. If you have further questions about this antenna, please contact support@nooelec.com, thanks!

Is there a way to tighten up the antenna rotating? My ant500 will not stay in place. I am not talking about area controled by the secrew. Thanks

thank you for your asking. not well understand what you mentioned. there are two areas for you to tighten the antenna, one is the SMA header - you can tighten it. The other is the small screw above the SMA header, you can also tighten it by turning the screw on it. thanks.
